Title: Hello...
Post by: miap on November 14, 2010, 07:57:08 am
Hi my name is Mia and Ive had my Thermomix for just over 1 week.....Ive so far made the mushroom risotto plus a few extra ingredients..the Crunchie icecream slice.....the Teriyaki beef with soba noodles and finally chorizo and lime fajitas with red onion relish.
Ive have not encountered any problems thus far, and all I can say is all the recipes have turned out great.
Im really looking forward to adapting my own recipes  in the near future but Im a bit hesitant until I am more comfortable with the Thermomix......Hopefully some of you who have owned one a little longer then me will be able to give me some great advise.
Well I better get back to the TM......

Hi miap, welcome to the forum.  Once you have had a bit more experience with your machine, your brain will start thinking differently and you will be looking at ordinary recipes through different eyes.  It will suddenly come to you that you can do it in the TMX, it does take a little while though so just be patient.  I always write down what I think will be the TMX version of a recipe then adjust it as I go, never think you will jot it down later because you will probably not remember what times, speeds etc you used.  Always do it as you go.  Good luck.

Welcome miap. In time you will find that you look at recipes with TMX eyes, as you read it you'll be thinking how to do it in the TMX.

Welcome Miap - I have had my TM for a few months and am just starting to notice what Judydawn says about seeing recipes in a different light. I wasn't even aware thats what it was till I read that comment.

I don't think I have actually made anything up yet but I am enjoying it even more now that I am getting used to those super fast sharp blades.

It took me a while to work out how to chop veges without pulverising them! I hope you love your machine as much as I do!

hi miap, i have had my tmx 3 days now and already have had my friends 12 year old daughter ask me for the recipe for the salami & tomato fettucine, so its the other way round trying to convert a tmx recipe to traditional way!
i am looking forward to converting old recipes in time, but am loving eating all these new dishes.
my husband and i do a monthly menu plan so that i can do one big shop, but havnt got that organised yet with tmx so seem to be spending everyday at the shop so far, obviously not saving any money yet.
we have a huge vege patch, and herb garden and now i cant wait for the goods to grow fast enough, especially the beetroot as want to make a boost juice with them and are expensive to buy. bought a massive bag of oranges from the market today so going to try out the carrot and orange juice tomorrow.
welcome from another newbie! nicky

Sounds like you're enjoying yourself, Miap!  Before you know it you'll be converting recipes and making up your own - it's really not hard!  Here's a few ideas about converting recipes which I wrote down - maybe it will help.  :)
