Title: Gluten -free book.....Sally Wise, 'From my Kitchen to yours"
Post by: achookwoman on September 20, 2010, 06:41:43 am
I bought this book because I liked the simple recipes.  I didn't realize that it was gluten free.   Cost $25.  Recipes such as her potato cakes are most suited to the TMX.

I love her books. In fact I have a couple of ABC books in my collection and I use them a lot. Their slow cooker one is great.

I'll be interested in the potato cake recipe if you do it and like it Chookie.

Today I was attempting to try another of my favourite potato recipes by steaming the first stage in the varoma but managed to spill all the slices on my way to the varoma and couldn't be bothered getting them back into the shape they started off in.
This is how they started off - will get back to it another day and try again.

Easy to do Cookie.  Cut a large potato in half horizontally, slice right through in 1/2cm slices (keep the shape of the potato), place on a tray using an egglifter then gently push down on the top to cause them to fan out slightly.  The plan was to brush them with melted butter, oil and parsley, steam until almost cooked then transfer using the egglifter again to a greased oven tray, sprinkle with parmesan & breadcrumbs & spray with oil.  Bake until crisp. When your slices end up all over the kitchen bench you suddenly loose all interest in fancy potatoes  :D :D Will try again though as they are really nice for dinner parties.
