Title: Varoma Demo
Post by: ozrockit on September 14, 2010, 05:23:38 pm
Hi all,

Could I please have some feedback from the forum users on the following..

Have you seen a Varoma Demo?
What did you think of it?
How long did it run?
What improvements could be made, in your opinion?

I have just practiced the Varoma menu tonight and would like some feedback from the "receivers"

thanks

Rod

:)

Haven't had one yet, although it is nearly planned. A friend wants a TMX for his wife and I'm waiting until he decides so I can have a sale at my demo. If he doesn't decide soon I'll go ahead.

I had the new varoma demo a few weeks ago and loved the food.  The demo is quiet long, tho it moved along nicely, was a great night. Thanks Joanna.

Waiting for a Varoma demo - went to a B2B class & ticked the box.  But they may think I am joking ? as they know me very well and possibly didn't realise that i have a friend who has just purchased & wants help.

We had a great Varoma demo, but I did feel it didn't really showcase the Varoma that much. I would have liked to see how to do a complete family meal, like rice in the basket, meat and veg in the top. Unfortunately as the host I missed a lot, as I was busy washing up and serving etc. I would have really liked the recipes too, as I still don't have a full steam ahead cookbook, 3 weeks after the demo. All in all I think it presents everything pretty well though. My only other thought is I thought the bread would be steamed, as my consultant had told me how great that recipe is.

Just ask your consultant - you are suppose to get recipe cards for all the dishes made - she may have just forgotton about leaving them - I'm sure she'll happily give them to you if you remind her.  ;)

I hosted a demo recently and I also missed a lot of it because I was busy getting drinks and washing up (the demo does use a lot of plates).

I've also had a basic demo and thought this one was better suited to my 30 something friends as it was more suited to some dinner party type recipes rather than family recipes ie custard. Everyone had a good time - it was long though.

My only other comment is that its an expensive demo for the host. It didnt help that I bought free range chicken but with the parmesan, cashews etc etc it did add up. I really don't expect my consultant to pay for everything but given there is no incentive besides the recipe cards (which are lovely) the cost should be spread more evenly over the host and consultant.

Hope this helps!

Good point about the cost, for me it was pretty cheap, as no alcohol served until the main dish. My friends would usually have had a few drink by then, and that would have cost! Thanks for the feedback on recipe cards, I will ask

I'd be really interested to hear from anyone who has experienced both the "old" & "new" Varoma demos to find out how you'd compare them & which you prefer.  Feedback about the food served with the new one is very positive.

Been contacted about having your own Varoma demo yet Thermomixer???

Still not yet.  Really think that they thought I was joking?

Hi Robyn,
I'm in Malanda, and can come do a demo for you if you like  :)  I think I'm supposed to be taking over Giovanna's customers, but haven't been given the list of names yet.

Yes, Robyn. They will give your details to someone else near you. The same happened to me but I was adopted by faffa. I was very lucky.

Are all the recipes used for the varoma demo in the FSA cookbook?

There's a fridge magnet too? Still waiting for my FSA cookbook, not happy Jan in this regard, had my demo on the 28th of august, keep hearing the books have sold out- not really good enough in my opinion. Don't launch a new demo without enough books! Feeling very let down by my consultant/head office.

The thing that moved my demo along was having two thermos going mine and the consultants.  I don't know if that is the norm but it certainly helped.

I've had the old varoma demo with asian fish fillets and I found it very good as there is rice cooking while the fish and vegetables are in the varoma. I'll be having my next varoma demo soon. I don't find the new varoma dish as appealing because I think showing off the rice cooking is better. A warm chicken salad with a soup doesn't give me the feeling of a complete meal as much as rice, fish and veggies. I'll update once I've had my  new varoma demo.
