Title: Gougeres, savory choux puffs.
Post by: achookwoman on September 09, 2010, 10:08:48 am
I used CreamPuff63's recipe for Choux pastry,  and added 100g Gruyere cheese, a pinch of Cayenne and a pinch of nutmeg.   I followed CP63's method.  I reheated them for visitors .   Next time I may fill them with smoked salmon and sour cream.   The cheese was added after the eggs.  I sprinkled a little Parmesan cheese on the top before cooking.

JD,  they reheat really well.   Gave the left overs to the visitors who were only too glad to take them as they have visitors tomorrow.

What a great idea Chookie - feed them & give them a doggy bag with all the leftovers so that you can get on with trying another new recipe.  :D :D

Chookie, these look lovely. I have made them pre Thermomix. I'd never thought of doing them again.

Good work Chookie.  These have been on the menu at Jacques Reymond's for many years as their appetiser.  So you are in good company.  :-* :-* :-*

CP,  glad you liked them.   I gave some to a friend who served them to dinner guests with similar reaction.   Handy little fellows. ;D

Love this idea  ;)
Could be even great for school lunches/picnics? Do they taste as good at room temperature?

Hestonfan,  these are nice cold,  especially filled with something like CP63 suggests.   Ideal for school lunches.  This rwcipe is based on CP63's recipe for  Choux pastry   It is a beauty.

Having TMX guests next weekend, these would surely impress. I think I had better give them a try.

I've just made these from the Fast and Easy Cookbook and have to say was disappointed ....

I really like choux pastry and will definitely give them a go with the tweaks here - bit of cayenne or or mustard powder would have perked them up nicely  ;D

Nicola1968,  this is not a tweek on the EDC recipe.  The recipe I used was CP63's and added the cheese etc.  The method for when to add cheese was based on EDC recipe.   Try my recipe at the start of this post.
