Title: Hello from Portugal
Post by: pedroteixeira07 on August 30, 2010, 11:06:23 am
Hi everyone,

Congratulations for the Forum.

I have a Thermomix .. the thing is.. in Portugal it's called ''bimby'' ..don't ask me why ;)

Anyway, I discovered a passion for cooking with this machine.. I have a great time... specially desserts!!! :DD I try too cook light though so I don't have a bad conscious after ;)

Well anyway.. I've created a blog for my recipes I've been doing this past days: www.1guy1bimby.com (http://www.1guy1bimby.com)

I  also have all the portuguese recipe books which are different from the foreign ones. So it would be interesting to translate some recipes for you guys if interested.. or you should check my blog and I can translate if needed. Let me know something.

Greetings from Portugal

Hello there, lovely that you could join our forum.  I'm off to check out your blog.

Well, I don't speak Portuguese but the pictures are lovely  ;) ;)
Desserts are certainly your favourite by the look of the blog and please feel free to post anything you think we would like.

Indeed I'mthe dessert type of person! :D
I sure love all kinds of food but I wanted my blog to be a challenge.. so I'm trying only LIGHT healthier food.. and which is the hardest course to keep that? That's my reason for all the deserts ;)

I'm looking forward to cook some national dishes from all over the world so I'd like to search a little bit around here and I would like some suggestions :D

Also if anyone is interested I have all portuguese books in PDF files so I can translate if necessary ;) I guess Thermomix recipes are world wide :D

cheers ;) *

hello Pedro
I love your blog!  I was looking for a recipe for pasteis de nata.  My husband was born in Portugal and he will love me even more if I can recreate his favourite Portuguese tarts.  Any suggestions for making them in the TM?
thanks, Catherine

Ow guys, thanks for you answers :D

I'm very happy to be on this forum. There's some great looking recipes.. wow.. and my tooth.. definitely sweet! :D  Sometimes too much ;)

I can understand the language barrier.. but I mean with this incredible machine that is the Thermomix .. if you have the ingredients and the procedure .. the rest is very easy :D

@I Love Bimby!: I'll definitely try that one ;) Seems so good and light.. perfect for this extremely hot days we've been having here. I'll maybe even cut out the sugar to half using fructose ;)

@chickey: Indeed ''Pasteis de Nata'' is a very very common recipe around here (we love it). You can see it in every pastry... and actually the recipe is in our ''portuguese thermomix base book'' and it goes exactly like the link that judydawn posted ;) Anyway if you have any doubt on which I can help just tell me :D

Thanks to all of you for the kind responses.

Greetings from Madeira Island, Portugal

Hi Pedro,
You could easily cut the sugar back by half at least, and if you are using fruit more on the "riper" side than under ripe, the natural sugars should help too.

I was in Portugal and Spain about 5 years ago, and fell in love with Portugal. You have an amazing place in the world!   ;) ;D

I sure agree with that ;)

I actually love this place, I'm not sure about the mainland, I just been there for vacations, never actually lived there.

I'm on a Portuguese Island called Madeira. Here I confirm, great place for vacations and for living. ;)

Everything is quite quiet but at the same time is not the end of the world, we are pretty ''advanced'' (off course not compared to big cities), you should check it and think about visiting one day.

I'll serve as a guide around and introduce you to MAdeira food ..made in a more modern way ( thermomixxxxxx ) heheheh

Cheers ;)

Oh I actually had no ideia!
Actually I've heard that thermomix is well spread in Portugal compared to the rest of the countries.. does that mean ...we are lazy?
I don't know hehehe, but I mean.. we have at least 12 thermomix books in Portuguese and everyday I hear more people talking about this machine. I don't know why the big effect in Portugal but I'm so enjoying it ;D Finally I have a say in the kitchen!! :D

PS:
I don't know about the rest of the world.. but as far as Portugal concern.. the thermomix recipe books are VERY expensive..
So thinking a little bit on the people who'd like to try other things without having to actually buy it..
I've placed a link on my blog with all the PDF versions of the books I have digitalized.
So currently there's only Portuguese ( obviously) , French and Spanish available there.
If you want to contribute send me a message please, otherwise just enjoy. any help with translation just let me know

PS take 2: For the ones having trouble finding the link which I guess it will be hard if you don't recognize portuguese, I've placed an image of the country flag next to the link, so it can be easily spotted.  Just enter there, and see the book covers and download if u'd like.

Greetings from Portugal ;)
