Post by: bluedragon on August 28, 2010, 06:53:12 am
Hi all

I have had my Thermomix for about one month and I am exstatic about it, I work fulltime about travel 100k's to go to work and back each day. I am now starting to adapt my own recipes :)

Hi, I've had mine for just over a month and love doing that too. Find nearly everything I used to cook can be converted. Use mine every day - recipes on this site are great. Just live down the road from you - Mount Barker.

Welcome bluedragon ... I have only had mine a few days but have worked out that I don't need to find a storage place for it ... it will live out on the bench!  This forum is invaluable!  I'm in Tassie!

Hi All

Sorry I took so long to reply - been very busy with my thermomix!!

No I dont pass any local producers other than sheep & wheat farmers on my way to work!! I have been making strawberry jam and after much trial and tribulation decided to abandon the recipe in the thermomix book as I could not get the jam to set.
I went back to my own recipe all proportional 500g jam setting sugar to 500g strawberries and cook for 35 minutes on 100 then a further 5 minutes on veroma all speed 1 reverse. It works every time and the jam tastes delicious.
watch this space for more!!

Glad you eventually got it to work bluedragon. I always use those proportions for my jam and use the jam setting sugar and haven't had a failure yet.

Hi Bluedragon, welcome to the forum and congratulations on your Thermomix.
My inlaws are originally from Wagin. Not too much rain out your way.
Thanks for the info on the jam. I made the recipe from EDC and had trouble with it setting. I thought it was because I blitzed it after I cooked it because my young fella wont eat it with lumps.  I'm thinking it's more likely the recipe.
Sounds like you and Cookie are on the right track.  I'll get some jam setting sugar when I go shopping and have another go.  :) I wont be beaten!

Where do I buy jam setting sugar?  I'm really keen to give jam a go.  I've never made it.  But 'Hermy' inspires me!  Ta!  :D

I bought mine from Woolies. It's CSR brand in a pink packet & just called Jam Setting Sugar
