Removed the round bone off lamb (arm chops? the bit with a small round bone) and visible fat and partly froze. Then made the Bolognaise Sauce recipe on P64 using this mince. Followed the recipe for the Shepherds Pie to the 't' and it is seriously good 5/5

Thanks CP63 - good to hear a positive from the EDC :-* :-* :-* :-* They may be forequarter chops?

DH was a butcher and had never heard of an arm chop but here it is guys

We love the shepherds pie too. I normally do sweet potato mash and often don't worry about the cheese. :)
-
my very first thermomix meal I just did my normal shepards pie loosely based on a combination of the CSIRO book and Nigella - fairly standard sort of savoury mince with whatever veggies are going, a bonus can of beans and a top of half sweet potato and half pumpkin. I used the instructions for the bolognaise as as guide to method/cooking times and it worked really well.

Thanks JD - can't believe that they now separate the chops with round bones from flat bones! They were always just forequarter and some had a different shaped bone!

I did exactly this as the first thing I cooked in my TM. I was rather impressed and thought I was a genius ☺

You are. :)

Love the description Arm CHops CP !!!

However genius I am, I still manage to burn this to the bottom each time I have done it. I cooked on varoma temp, is that too high?
-
The recipes says varoma temp Becci but if you are burning yours each time, I would try it on 100o.

I didn't know what to have for dinner tonight until I saw this topic, I also used the ARM chops (hee Hee) it was very nice, Becci I turn the temperature down to 100 it was bubbling to much.

Thankyou :)

Recipe Name: Shepherds Pie
Book Name: EDC
Tweaking details: Use normal mash or not mash so much to make it less sloppy.
Review: Was very nice, but a bit sloppy. Next time I might not whip the mash to see if that firms it up a bit as it wasn't as easy for my 16 month old to eat! Taste wise, my hubby said it was the best he's ever had!
Score: (out of 5*) 4
