This recipe is converted from http://www.femail.com.au/chocraspbrownies.htm (http://www.femail.com.au/chocraspbrownies.htm) a recipe from the Heart Foundation Cookbook.
Preheat oven to 180oC.
Grease and line the base and sides of a 30cm x 20cm tin with baking paper.
Ingredients
2 eggs
15g sunflower oil (1.5 tblspns)
280g castor sugar
1 tspn vanilla essence
200g thick reduced fat vanilla yoghurt
120g apple puree
80g plain flour
80g S.R. flour
1 tspn bicarbonate of soda
65g cocoa
200g fresh or frozen raspberries
icing sugar to dust
fresh berries to serve (optional)
Method
Place the eggs in the TM bowl and beat for 3 seconds/speed 5.

cookie - I made these on Saturday afternoon. They were very nice Judy, even more so because they have the tick.
Unfortunately my raspberries all sank to the bottom. It's like a layer of them on the bottom. This hasn't affected the taste though.
Caroline J - The brownies were divine. Send the rest to work with DH this morning so us girls at home don't eat them all!
Denzelmum - Made this morning, didn't read properly and used natural yogurt. But happy with the result, not too sweet. All gone in quickly at church lunch. Thanks, JD.
Agelfling - Made these today for dessert with friends we had over for dinner - they were a huge hit! Even let DS have his first lick chocolate off the butterfly as a special treat, much to his delight.
Aussie Brenda - JD these are just Divine, I've just finished my second slice. I took some over to the neighbours, got the thumbs up there. I did have to cook them another 15 mins, also added Pecans, walnuts and some choc. bits. Seriously yummy.
NICKY74 - just found this recipe, it's really late but I just had to cook it right now! anyway, its just come out of the oven, I hope it is ok, because I fear my quantities maybe a bit out! I put in 3 eggs as they were very small, too much apple puree (total accident) and only had 40g cocoa instead of 65g as that was all I had! so, cant wait for them too cool so I can taste, oh also I had mundella honey yoghurt so used that, think it should make for a nice flavour (they smell good!).
ok, the verdict: this was a bit 'puddingy' maybe because I put in too much apple puree! I have only tasted it still warm from the oven, so maybe it will firm up a bit by tomorrow. Still tastes good and I will make it again but follow the recipe more thoroughly next time!
ok, this now tastes really yummy when I put chocolate icing on, and warm it slightly, (defeats the object of the healthy recipe)
think next time I will just use a normal choc brownie recipe and add raspberries because I do love this combination.

I read the title and thought 'oh man, another unhealthy one to add to my list', but this one should be healthy yay!
Thanks Judy
-
JD that brownie looks fantastic in the photo, and such an easy recipe. Its going straight to the recipe file :) ;)
-
It is very rich tasting girls, you'd never think it was from the Heart Foundation. I actually have that book so must browse it sometime and see what else I can convert. You can't beat something that is healthy and tastes good at the same time :)
-
These look lovely jd,DH loves chocolate brownies.
-
Just awesome Judy. I saw that you had made raspberry brownies and wondered where the recipe came from. I love your plate, I'm really into those!
A healthy brownie too, I MUST make these. Thanks.
I love the 'plating up' too. :-*
-
anything that is sweet and gets the heart tick is worth the taste test.
(there'll be no competition from me with the 'plating up' :D) well done JD
-
Blast!! I have just come back from shopping and have forgotten the apples to make the apple puree.Got the rest of the ingredients I needed to make these, serves me right to rely on my memory. :D
-
JD, this looks like a good one. Did you do that fancy bit on the side ?
-
Sure did Chookie. It is normal to use coulis and make the hearts with little dobs of cream then draw a skewer through the cream but I only had cashew cream and coulis so just did my own thing.
-
I'm china spotting again, is it Royal Albert Roses jd? ;D
-
Yes Cornish Cream, quite common out here in Australia.
-
Looks beautiful Judy and I like your "cheffie" touch ;D
-
Thanks JulieO. I keep coulis frozen in a small ziplock bag for this purpose and it is easy to cut off a piece & thaw for decorating desserts, it lasts for ages if you only use it to make the hearts.
-
Good work JD - that does sound healthy and especially if it got a tick. Your presentation also gets a big tick - good tip.

That's strange Cookie, did you pop them in frozen or thaw them out first? I put mine in frozen. As you can see by my photo, mine are scattered throughout the brownie.

I have always had problems when adding fresh berries to a cake, I will now try with frozen berries. :)
-
I used frozen ones Judy and put them in frozen. It really doesn't concern me as it still tastes delicious.
-
My little helper and I have these in the oven....

What a little sweetie! :D
-
Isn't she just. Lovely hair, gorgeous eyes - what more could a Mum ask for?
-
Oh, she is so beautiful. Dad will have to keep a close watch in a few years.
-
Thanks for the lovely comments, she is a character!

Cute Caroline J - that was always my favourite part of baking ;) ;) ;) ;)

Yum yum :D

-
It shouldn't have made much difference Denzelmum, just would have cut the sweetness a bit. They were all eaten so they must have been good ;D
-
Yes JD, they are yummy! Good way to reduce sweetness :D

just found this recipe, its really late but i just had to cook it right now! (was supposed to be searching for a recipe for a red cake, maybe the velvet cupcake type of thing for the interesting cake idea post)
anyway, its just come out of the oven, i hope it is ok, because i fear my quantities maybe a bit out!

will report back shortly when i have had a cup of tea and hopefully yummy brownie (they smell good!)

Nicky, isn't it too easy, especially at night when tired to put too much in. There is a bit of a delay with my scales,so really need patience and I am usually hurrying!
-
I love when someone bumps a recipe that I haven't seen before. Thanks. Will have to give this one a go.

Yes thanks for revisiting this, JD these are just Divine, I've just finished my second slice. I took some over to the neighbours , got the thumbs up there. I did have to cook them another 15 min's, also added Pecans, walnuts and some choc. bits. Seriously yummy.
