Title: butterfly installation
Post by: Abbybs on June 13, 2010, 08:24:04 pm
Hi.  I am attempting to use the butterfly for the first time and when I put it in it just seems to sit loosely on top of the blade.  Is this correct?

I hope this makes sense, but you will find that when you put it on the blades there is less movement in one position than the other - put the butterfly there.

I will try that KarenO.  I have tried it twice when making the apricot chicken and both times it has dislodged and I just remove it and turn the speed up a bit.  It turned out fine but I want to figure it out.  Hopefully, the position you mentioned will do the trick.

Thanks!
Abby

if you look at the blades, there is a large gap and a smaller gap - place the butterfly between the smaller

CP63 I didn't know that, thank you. Fortunately I've never had any trouble with mine coming off.

You should have all been told that at delivery!!  :o :o :o :o I also tell my customers if they cant' remember which way it goes the first couple of times they use it, to ring me if they need to.

Always make sure it is on the smaller gap between the blades, if you practice turning it from side to side when it is on the blades, you will also be able to tell the difference if you need to add the butterfly after you have ingredients in the bowl and check that it is on the right way by moving it  ;)

See...no question is a silly question. ;)

I think that too MJ as it quite often leads to another thing or a heap of tips that you just don't think of imparting anyway  ;D ;D

I didn't know this either - there are lot's of us who never have demo deliveries for various reasons.

Can this be added to ILB's brilliant "List of Hints and Tips" (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=1549.0) section where it talks about the butterfly?
