Title: Recipe review - Lettuce soup Pge 48 Indian Cookbook
Post by: judydawn on May 27, 2010, 07:39:47 am
Made this with low salt chicken stock liquid so I needed to add more salt, added the optional coriander chilli paste (only 1 teaspoonful) and something was still lacking. Would have been very bland without the coriander chilli paste.  I added a teaspoon of chicken stock powder, still not right so added a teaspoon vegie stock concentrate and finally it began to taste like something. It may develop more flavour upon resting but we were both happy with it in the end.  If you want a thicker soup, add more potatoes.  4/5 for taste  5/5 for ease of making.

I've never eaten lettuce soup - it just doesn't sound appealing! Thanks for the review.

lettuce soup is really nice but, if you find the idea a bit spooky, you could always try pea and lettuce soup.  There's a recipe in the Fast & Easy cookbook for this.

Cooking lettuce does sound a bit weird but I've done a stir fried lettuce dish which is very tasty.

I like lettuce soup.  It may taste strange but it does work.  Pea & lettuce is brilliant too.  I made my first pea & lettuce soup about 40 years ago !!!!  My French teacher at school gave us recipes & this was one.

I've made peas with lettuce - petit pois a francaise, which I loved, so I guess this is much the same!
