Title: Masterchef Forum
Post by: meganjane on May 22, 2010, 09:10:16 am
Anyone else on here (http://www.masterchef.com.au/forums/category.jspa?categoryID=125)?

I've had some fun there. I also defended the Thermomix and pointed people to our forum for more info!

Edited for correction to link html

I actually wouldn't recommend going on the forum there. For some weird reason I've been banned for a month! I've emailed Network Ten to find out why!

They removed the smilies that I use, like this one: (http://www.thedishforum.com/smilies/laughing/rofl.gif), so perhaps they have no sense of humour!!

Thank goodness for this forum...(http://www.thedishforum.com/smilies/love-friendship-drool/heartshower.gif)

Oh well, now you can post over here instead!

I guess they have to keep their sponsors happy, so can't talk too much about other companies.  It'd be interesting to see the impact on Sunbeam sales while the show is on.

Wow , the thermomix must really be causing a stir!! i had a look at the forum and it seemed quite mild, can't see why there would be any fuss meganjane!

MJ I think you should wear that badge with honour. Imagine being banned for a month, seems rather stupid. Perhaps they didn't like you sticking up for the TMX.  They are the ones missing out on your knowledge.

I was registered as 'skinflint'. I think it was the links, but how rude to just ban someone without first contacting them!
You have to enter your name, address, email and phone number, in case they need to contact you,so there's really no excuse!

How bizarre MJ!
When that forum was up and running, I was going to participate......but there some really vicious people posting......so I didn't bother.
I can't believe you were banned.....but how funny though when people are getting so personal, yet you just posted some smilie's and links  ??? ???

thats so stupid! banning you for that... and not even letting you know. i agree maddy they should be worried about some of there vicious posters rather than something completely harmless

They say some appalling things about the contestants! :o  I don't bother reading the Episode Blog anymore, they're just plain nasty.
I like watching the videos and catching up on missed episodes.

Yes, I don't have the time and they aren't flattering sometimes.  Found the skinflint posts with EDITTED marks all over them where the links had been removed !!

I dont go on the MC forum but I did just have a browse now and also took a quick look at the forum rules. I think that realistically most people dont read the rules first before they join in on a forum or they just give them the cursory once over and then forget most of it but it does say in their rules "No links to external sites." so that would be the reason for the links being removed and you getting a slap on the wrist.

I did actually read the rules of the forum, I always do....
I removed a link to here after I read the rules the second time as I wasn't sure of them. I didn't feel that smilies were considered links. They didn't link to anything but an external site with smilies!
I also would understand a 'slap over the wrist', but feel a ban is like using a sledgehammer to push in a drawing pin. >:(

don't worry about it MJ, in the scheme of things their actions seem a trifle over the top, but i suppose as soon as they saw the links they acted upon it regardless of what they were. at least we appreciate the funny side of the animations  :)  keep them coming  ;D

I'm really over it CP63, but was initially very miffed. I don't even bother looking at the Masterchef site anymore. The whole program is a bit of a let down. And as for Master Class - I call it Master Farce! There's barely anything that they've taught the contestants that would be worthy of being named a Master Class.

I quite like the Master Class, as I've learnt a few things from it.  Since seeing Gary butcher the chicken and making it look so easy, I've started buying whole chickens and butchering them myself.  Saves a fortune ($4/kilo for chicken breasts), and I can make great chicken stock which is perfect for this time of year.

But sometimes Masterclass is rather elementary - berries + yoghurt + blender = frozen yoghurt?

I quite like it for myself too. I have leant things from Masterclass ... BUT if these people are supposed to be our TOP amateur Chefs then the classes are quite basic. I am sick of hearing "I have never...."

I agree, I have picked up a few things from the Master class but certainly haven't been watching all of Masterchef this time round.  I think there are only a couple of good cooks in the making, and the rest need to go home and forget about it!

I would love to think that Callum could do it but I'm tipping Skye to win  :D

Since it was a female last series, I imagine the winner will be male. I reckon it will be Jonathon.
I like Marion.

I've only seen a couple of Master Farces, so haven't learned anything I didn't already know. I learned heaps from Master Chef UK.

I like Marion and Skye, Jonathon is a good cook, just abit arrogant for my liking  :P
I wish Jo would go home already, cant stand her!!

;D All the forum people HATE Jowaaaane!

I'm not fond of Jonathon, but I feel he has the talent. The young boys are doing really well. Callum may just make it.

I thought the Molecular Gastronomy Challenge was just daft. All Heston Blumenthal, which I absolutely hate. I don't have a chance to eat out often enough to get so bored with food that I have to play with it that much.

Mentioned Thermomixed twice on tonights episode. Great that it was on such a high calibre episode, showing 'arguably the world's best chef' uses TMXs.
