Title: Hello, New Thermie Owner
Post by: HeyMcJude on May 22, 2010, 03:09:36 am
Hi Everyone,
My Thermie arrived on Tuesday and I have been cooking up a storm.  :D I love it!  I have been taking the TM book with me to work and writing shopping lists in my breaks to pick up ingredients on my way home.  I realised last night I left it at work - doh -so I am going to have to go in and wrangle security to retrieve it!  But it's my first weekend with Thermie - so I can't not have it!  Any good recipe suggestions for someone new to Thermomix?
HeyMcJude  ;D

Hi HeyMcJude, welcome. I know what you mean about not being able to get by without your EDC when you first get your machine. But, there are many great recipes here on the forum. A favourite with many people is ILB's Bimby Chocolate cake. It is so easy and keeps well and tastes great. There is also a Chocolate Sponge with Red Wine that is very nice. And the legendary Baf63's Creamy Chicken in the Varoma (haven't got the name right I know). A lot depends on what you feel like cooking in terms of where one starts in giving you suggestions. Anyway have fun and be sure to check out the Recipe Reviews section of the forum to find out what people have made from the books and how they have tweaked the recipes.

Welcome McJude!  What a pain, leaving your EDC behind!  But there's heaps of recipes on the forum, and lots of us have blogs too, so you'll find lots on the internet.  Have fun!  :)

Well first things first - When you do retrieve your EDC Make your veggie stock, then mill rice for baking powder to make you SR flour.  ;)

Hi and welcome!

Definitely make the stock and maybe some mayo too! I think risotto is always a winner for a weekend meal that will impress everyone.

Thank you for the great suggestions everyone!  I feel so welcome!
I went in and picked up my EDC and then went straight to the shops for ingredients.  I ended up making hummous, the chocolate/almond torte and more butter.  I am really enjoying it.
Can't wait to try some more of the suggestions.  I've already made the vegie stock - which is awesome - no nasty numbers in our soup from now on.

Welcome,  sounds like you are having fun already.  The white (cheese sauce) is great to start with.
