Title: Recipe Review - Carrot and cabbage sambhal - Indian cookbook
Post by: Lemongrass on May 16, 2010, 10:53:15 pm
Recipe Name: Carrot and cabbage sambhal
Book Name: Fast and Easy Indian Cooking
Tweaking details: Works well without the tamarind (didn't have any) and less oil
Review: Delicious. Serve with grilled chicken for a lovely no-carb dinner.
Score: 4

Thanks for the review too.  I love tamarind and so will definitely try it.

LOVED this!
I made it as a side with the delicious Rogan Josh from the same book pg 98.
I didn't have any green mango so as suggested in the book I added more tamarind.
Will certainly be making this again!

Made this last night and enjoyed it.
I didn't have any green mango or tamarind, so just used extra lemon juice as the recipe suggested. I may have overdone it a tad on the lemon flavour, so will bear that in mind next time.
I wasn't sure how chunky it was supposed to be, mine was quite finely chopped, and after cooking, the cabbage had all but disappeared while the carrot was still quite crunchy. Next time I would try chopping the carrot first, then adding the cabbage so that it stays a bit coarser.
