I have found the perfect brush for the Thermomix. Head down to your local gun shop and ask for a cleaning brush for your M16. You know the double ended one with three rows of bristles on the wider end and one single row of "you beaut" bristles on the other. Only $8.

Gertbysea, looks very much like the one I use on my AK47. ;D ;D ;D
-
Yeah and my AR15.
Goodonya!

;D ;D ;D Damn, DH should have been able to tell me that, he carried a M16 all during his natios time.
Thanks for a great chuckle folks.

Crickey!!! Better not pinch anyone's beer around here. ;D ;D ;D
-
just make sure you use a brand new one!!!
Old ones will be full of cordite dust which is used to clean weapons. It is also cancerous.
;D

Right on KL. I should have mentioned that! ;D ;D ;D

Out of curiosity Gretch, do you have the TMX Bowl Brush? I have never had the need to clean under the blades with the little brushes since I started using it. ;D They are only $5.00 and can be used for cleaning the bowl too :P :P

Thanks for thet Faffa. Yes I do have the brush but find for fine cleaning that pesky bit of dought the gun brush works a treat. One end is really tiny and has stiff bristles. Besides that I love the gun shop. Full of testosterone big time. :-)) :-)) :-)).

My DH would wish I loved gun shops so that he could get more interest from me when discussing something he has seen on Foxtel - you and DH would get along like a house on fire Gretchen ;D ;D
-
I have never been into a gun shop. There used to be one over TheCrone's way, I'm not sure if it's still there. I can just see their face if I go in and ask for a brush to clean my M16. :o :o
-
I use a baby bottle brush to clean in awkward places, cleans the blades up just nicely.

Absolutely Catsia but not so interesting shopping for a baby bottle brush as shopping for a brush to clean an M16. Amazing what you see in a gun shop. Lots of interesting stuff and up here in the deep north of Queensland with lots of fascinating people in gun shops carrying very big cases. The vehicles outside are something to behold as is the artwork on the walls of the shop not to mention the artwork on the bodies. You see people in complete camouflage outfits........or NOT. ;) ;) ;) ;)

lol Gertbysea, I have had the not so pleasure of going to to 1 near home, they are an odd bunch. Guns not a good conversation piece here as my partner was organising his gun licence whilst I was in labour with my lastest baby. Sorry his gun licence was the last thing on my mind during a contraction ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
-
LOL - do you have an armoured tank to drive to the shops?
I think this might be one of the customers:

I have also discovered how great this little M16 brush is for cleaning around the lid and the top of the thermomix. I even went and bought another one for a spare. Very useful around the kitchen and of course I wanted to go into the gun shop again.I am getting addicted to testerone I think.

;D sounds like you could easily forget what you went in there for

Gertbysea, I think you were just looking for an excuse to go back to that gun shop after seeing Thermomixer's photo. ;D ;D ;D I don't mean Thermomixer but the photo he posted.

Just looking at this I'm tempted to go into our local gun shop to see the the reaction if I asked for a M16 cleaning brush.Knowing how paranoid they are about gun ownership here in the U.K I would be under investigation by the local constabulary. "Please sir it's for my Thermomix"I find that a brush that you supposed to clean a teapot spout with good at getting in and around the blades. There must be a patent waiting to be discovered out there!!

This has become a very humorous topic. We have lots of gun shops here in my town - being next to a big Air Force base is one reason, it being a bastion of extreme conservatives is another.
However, I have never shopped in them for a kitchen tool.
I find many of my "kitchen essentials" in the art supply shop. I have a stippling brush that has long, very stiff bristles that works a treat for getting those little sticky bits out of tight places.
My favorite pear and apple corer (also for scooping seeds out of cucumbers and zucchini) started life as a clay-sculpting tool and several of my cake decorating items also came from the same source.
The hobby shop adjacent to the art store has also yielded up some neat-o tools. I have a couple of large diameter leather punches that work a treat for cutting interesting shapes out of citrus peel (for candying). One is a daisy shape and the other is a butterfly.

Sprung! ;D ;D

So maybe I'm ultra cheap (or just plain boring) but I got one that works well free at a Tupperware party last week, they have a perfect one with a nice long handle in the games prize box. 8)
-
Lucky you, try and get another one at your party.
-
Rather off topic.....................Judy I love your avatar. Clever you. :-*

Thanks Chookie, took me long enough. You need a magnifying glass to see it though!

In my opinion (humble or not ;D), we are all great minds on this forum!
-
Yes - if we are smart enough to have bought a TMX then we must have great minds!!
-
is this a gun forum masquerading as a thermomix forum?
-
Sprung. Good to see you around whisks.

Why does the brush not come with the TMX anyway?? I have had my brush for just a couple of weeks, and (I feel silly for saying this) I LOVE IT! Has reduced the number of times I have to unlock the blades alot. For a brush that only costs $5....why is it not supplied with the machine?

Amanda I give all of my customers a brush as a gift when I deliver my machine. I think they are invaluable too ;)

What a lovely gesture on your behalf Meagan.I have never seen them forsale here in the U.K. but I saw one on e-bay when I was nosing at the price of the TM and books that everyone was talking about on here.

Bumping this for all those who didn't have the pleasure of reading it when it first hit the airwaves . . . ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
My consultant gave me one too as a gift, it should be included in the package.

Since this was first mooted Helene's superkitchenmachine.com has surpassed all the brushed for the blades in my opinion. It is much better than my gun brush which is still pretty good.

Helene's brushes are the best.
-
I find the Ikea brushes are great. I can normally clean in and around the blades without removing them, whereas with Helen's i find they are great if I have the blade out of the machine but too small if it's all still attached. I use the Ikea brush 90% of the time and the Helene's smaller one when I need a really good clean or there is something stuck under the blades.
-
Wonder, do you mean the Diska brush http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30151479/
Or the Plastis brush? http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/30166126/ or a different one?
I'm hoping to get to Ikea soonish & I'll add it to my list of things to look at.
-
I've been using this brush. It gets easily into the edges and due to its shape can get under the blades too. Unfortunately UK only but I'm sure you can all find similar.

I have bent Helene's brush to 90 degrees so I can clean the blades without removing them if I want.
