Yeah the forum is back up. Wouldn't you know it, it goes down on the day our Bimby arrives. I've had to wait a whole sleep to tell everyone!
I wonder should we madly copy all the forum recipes? :)

I've been wondering a similar thing! Congratulations on the arrival of your Bimby. Have fun with all the recipes here, now that they're back!!!
I had a day of panic that a) I'd lost touch with everyone and b) the recipes were gone!!! It was at that point that I realised I had absolutely no way of getting back in touch and finding folk if the site didn't come back up. Does anyone have an idea for an alternative meeting point if anything ever goes more permanently wrong?
-
:) hi Russell, and everyone.
I am so happy its back on.
I was just reading your excitement yesterday, then blank. it was gone.
Robyn :)

The Yahoo group is a secondary place. It's not really active, but a good backup. I contacted Thermomixer through his blog :)
Now that the Bimby is here, and we're starting to convert recipes, I might actually (in my MANY spare hours - not) start putting recipies into Living Cookbook (recipe software), which I bought years ago but haven't used much.
Russell.

Get cookin' Russell. I believe that you're going back to work tomorrow.
-
Congrats Russell on your new toy??? What did you cook first?
I went onto the facebook thermomix in Melbourne, hoping that some others from this forum were on there.
-
Well I was floating around a few places, the FB Melbourne was one as well as this one (http://www.facebook.com/search/?flt=1&q=thermomi&o=65&sid=1621685321.1085276178..1&s=10#!/group.php?gid=360383923484)
there was a couple of us floating on that one as well. I know I am on a couple of other FB pages too :o :o
I think maybe the old yahoo users group could be a great back up disaster plan. I think I still remember my password lol ;D ;D

Phew,
Well just about to pack up for the night. been a busy day, and my memory is a bit fuzzy. I'll try and recall (not in order). One thing I do know is, everything we made is FAILSAFE, so we're off to a good start.
1 & 2. Sorbet x 2 (1 with ice, 1 with milk)
3. Shortbread biscuits
4 & 5. Muesli Slice x 2 (one for me for work, one for the kids :) )
6. Luigi's 40 sec biscuits (sub. cashews for almonds, yum!)
7. Anzac biscuits (oops, bit runny & a little burnt)
8. Mashed Potato
9. Mock Nutella (i.e. Cashew & Carob butter)
10. Vegetable muffins
11. Chicken Stock
12. Howards Bean Paste
I think that's it, but something else may have slipped in while I wasn't looking ;)
And that's the end of the fun for me until Friday now :(
Russell.

well Done Russell :) you have been busy. Try hot chocolate or coffee in it, so nice ;D

Can someone whos familiar with this Yahoo users group please pass on the details about this site please?
Thanks :-*

Yep onto it will just find the info - want me to start another post with it??
-
Yes please Faffa :-* :-* :-*
-
Yay, so glad it's back on! I think we were all probably having withdrawel symptoms!!
-
Poor Russell! I was having withdrawal symptoms, but you must have been really feeling the loss of the forum!
At least you had more time to cook!
-
I didn't find it so hard to cope with this time as the first time it happened when I was new. Cooked all day Saturday and actually was in bed with the light out at 10pm instead of midnight or 1am which is the norm as I never go to bed until I have read all the day's postings on the forum. Today we went out all day and have not long got in - what time did it come back on? It pays to print out those recipes you intend doing.
-
Poor Russell - forum goes down on the day you want to tell everyone - certainly have been busy.
The Yahoo group was set up by brazen and me - there is a link on my blog just under the Banner http://thermomix-er.blogspot.com/ (http://thermomix-er.blogspot.com/)
Those who have joined up would have recieved some warning. Not sure what else to do - ? pay the bills on time ;D ;D

Heh, yep :) Oh and I forgot the pikelets we had for breakfast yesterday, so that's abkers dozen recipes :)
Regarding the Yahoo groups, the interface for using them is really rather bad. I'm so glad there's a proper forum setup here. I'm on several Yahoo groups that have no otehr avenue for discussion, and it's the pits trying to navigate messages, so I would only use it if there were no alternatives, which for now there is, luckily :)
Russell.
-
I agree Russell this is a much nicer format to use. ;D ;D
-
a tip for next time (though MM assures me they are buying the domain name for 10 years this time lol) if you need a recipe, google and look at the cache - if the cache doesn't work (as it didn't this time, though as far as i know cache is cache not current ??? :-))) click on the 'text only' link and the recipe page should come up :)
-
Well you are a clever little cookie Karen - thanks for the tip :-* :-* :-* :-*

Thanks - I've joined up now.

I also hate the way Yahoo groups are set up.
As mentioned in another post, I copy all the recipes into a word doc and then save to my recipes folder on my computer. Saves having to go online for a recipe, not that this stops me!
-
The Yahoo group was sooo difficult to navigate, but was useful for disseminating some info.
I was going to close it down - lucky I didn't.
-
I guess we would have found somewhere else if you did
strangely enough have you seen a sudden large boost in memberships lol ;D ;D
-
LOL - yes a few extras applying to cover their bases.
-
I save all recipes in which I am interested into files on my computer. I have a large hard drive so have plenty of room and I like to have them handy in case i am not able to get online.
There have been times when the high speed cable goes blooey and my wireless is quite a bit slower (not yet 3G) and I am an impatient critter.
Speaking of critters, I have changed my avatar to a basenji puppy, bred by my best friend, that has a particularly cute face. Of course I am prejudiced but I think there is nothing cuter than a basenji puppy with the wrinkled forehead and those almond eyes.
-
Don't let Lily hear you saying that or she'll jump out of my avatar and attack her. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Does look cute ( put my hands over Lily's ears)
-
Looks VERY cute Andiiesenji. Had a Basenji pup in at work yesterday. Very cute as well & ohhh so playful. He had all the staff fussing over him and was a real time waster.

And what will lily think of my Jaxon a Jack/Foxie?

My cat's beginning to freak out here with all these dogs hanging around.... she's not into dogs at all (or other cats for that matter!)
:o :o :o

Gert
Oh boy she's not pleased to see all these dogs - she is such a jealous little cad. ... and she really hates the neighbour's cat with a vengeance. She is sooooo bad.
-
Andi, just love the look of this cute little puppy.

Oddly enough, the pup's name is Lllytwo as her mum's name was Lilymar.

Oh Jaxon loves bad girls!!!!!!!!!
Gert

Lily is a VERY bad girl - so Jaxon should love her a lot - but I can assure it won't be reciprocated Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
-
Oh dear... :o :o was going to post something to Russell here asking whether he's more addicted to the forum or his thermomix.... and if his DW if now regretting the forum... but after reading the last dozen or so posts, I think I'd better leave the pups to it and find another room... :-)) :D :D
-
Heh well, you could say this thread has gone to the dogs.
But now you mention it, I have been getting some dark looks from DW lately.

I was glad to see you back as well. Just for your information, Some one up the line should have their backside kicked. Domain name renewal notifications come out several months before they are due. Looks like the administrator (of the Domain) did not pass the info on. I work in this area so I know and to let a working site go down without contact with the owner is a big no no as far as we are concerned.
