Title: Didn't I read somewhere that Thermomix were launching a new website today?
Post by: Dutch on April 01, 2010, 01:14:24 am
Where is it? I'm dying here, I've been hanging out it see what accessories you can actually buy.  I bought my thermomix over a month ago and still haven't had my demo so I haven't been able to pick my consultants brains.

Dutch there aren't any accessories as such to buy for your TMX - you got it all  ;D ;D ;D

There are cookbooks, tea towel, aprons, shopping bags (new with website), bowl brush etc  that you can buy and yes it is supposed to be today that it changes so you can order online.

I know the order forms for consultants etc have changed to add the meat cookbook as I downloaded that last night but haven't checked the website today...off to do so now  ;D

It was Meagan that posted it somewhere, we can find it from looking at her posts  :D

Thanks!  I'm wanting the bread mat, I'm sure I've seen a couple of recipes refer to the bread mat, but I just use the kitchen bench.

Would be very interested in purchasing books online though, my consultants a hard woman to catch.

Yes I was going to say the bread mat :) Well the site doesn't seem to be any different to me, maybe it was an April fools  :D. It might be going live later today maybe?

Could it just be that WA is behind the eastern states by 3 hours and it is still coming later today, our time. ??? ???

It could be JD, though most things like that you can actually set the time for them to go live. In saying that quite often there are glitches too and things are sent live much later than anticipated. Guess we will just have to wait and keep checking ;D

In a post yesterday by Tenina she said that the Meat Book would be available from consultants as from today, and my consultant has said that the books are available from TM direct  ???

CP63 it will be both so you will be able to order bokks etc from the Thermomix website or from your consultant. The only difference is that the consultant won't get any comission on selling books if you buy through the website  ;)

In that case then, Thermomixer what happened to the changes we were expecting on our forum last October.  I know they were going to be subtle but were they so subtle that we didn't even notice  ??? ??? ???

You have to ask MM - I have no idea what they were going to be - he kept his cards very close to his chest.

With TMX in Australia, I received an email explaining that it wasn't happening for a while after I contacted them to find out when it would happen on Thursday.  Because i was keen to see the new one like all here.

My hope is that the hundreds of recipes that are apparently available in a database for consultants only will be made available to us plebs.

Also hope they will get a forum up and then encourage use of forums for owners.

would love to know where and what that is ... if it is the go getter recipes there isn't a huge number there ... and I haven't used them - too busy with the forum ones lol

faffa_70 - think it is the Go-Getters recipes and there must be more - I received 4 quince recipes from a consultant after sending her some info on quince paste.  They were all from consultants in official looking format

JD No, we are all friends....  the European sites have had forums for years and they are helpful to have interaction from HQ to keep better discussions on various matters.

Sorry, this will become a long post and I will copy to the review section, but received this from a consultant:

"Hi all…

With the feedback that we always receive from around the country, we have noted that the risotto recipe requires another tweak, back to cooking on Reverse + speed 1.5 – speed 2.
As we still have a few of the EDC books left, we would like you to bring this to the attention of your consultants and customers so that we avoid any issues that may occur when cooking the rice on speed soft until we adjust it in the EDC.

Speaking of the EDC, Grace and I have been talking about it since I started at Thermomix, and the time has come for a major facelift….not for me, though I wouldn’t mind, but for the book!

With that in mind, and with a little trepidation, we would like to have ALL your feedback about the Everyday book via email to me within the next 2 months. (End of May deadline).

Don’t fill my inbox all at once, but rest assured each of your suggestions will be flagged and addressed individually as we go through the book and together, make it better than ever before. It would be good to remember, (when you are dreaming up things for me to ‘fix’) that most kitchen appliances come with a little booklet with perhaps about 12 recipes in them and no after sales cooking classes or service such as we offer. We are the best at what we do in Australia, and so your patience and loyalty are much appreciated when troubleshooting with your customers and consultants.

Please continue to present solutions to your customers, and we look forward to in turn, offering you the best book yet!

From Tenina"

So, don't inundate her, but we will make sure she knows about what is here, if she doesn't already.

Sorry faffa_70 - that's why I am on about 12 different consultants' email lists and have contacted HQ with aliases to be able to get newsletters from 4 states  ;)  You need a good network with the communication from HQ - sorry, hope it improves.

Any tweaking of recipes done by HO to existing books is fine as long as we, the customers who purchased the machine and the books are notified of these changes.  If a car is recalled because of a problem all owners are notified, the same should apply to the TMX because I heard of machines 'blowing up' because of the original mushroom risotto recipe in the EDC.

Seizing up is probably a better word than blowing up - sorry to alarm you guys.  I think the problem was the quantity and soft speed was perhaps overload on the machine.  I find soft speed never works when I have a full bowl and always turn it up to at least speed 1, on reverse usually.

On the way out so will try and be quick.  I heard a machine was sent back and when the owner was asked what they were cooking at the time of the problem, they said the risotto.  No surprises with that answer apparently as it was not the first time. Was quite a while ago and I daresay nothing to worry about now with tweakings of that recipe.

OK guys...you haven't missed anything...the email (sneakily copied on here by the lovely Mr.T) was only sent out to group leaders...so Jeff, we need to talk ! hahaha  :o
We are upgrading the EDC, the time is right to do that as we have not really ever tested all that is in there, it was compiled before my time from recipes that had been tested by customers and consultants. In the books defence, I think it covers the basics extremely well with a wide range of dishes that demonstrate the many functions of the TM.
I was going to post the same request on here for tweaks and improvements on existing recipes, but was frankly afraid of you lot!
SO should you feel there is something outstanding you can add to a recipe that currently appears in EDC, please feel free to email me at tenina@thermomix.com.au...but like my original email said, send me a solution, rather than a problem...and I promise all issues will be addressed.
As to the website launch...think Pantene; it wont happen overnight, but it will happen.... :P :P

Sprung !!!!

Sorry Tenina, didn't realise it was secret GL business and it didn't just come from one source.  I think it needs to be out there anyway - sorry that I upset the consultants, but thought all GLs would send it to their consultants?

Gee, I hope we aren't THAT scary.  We are friends.  Agree that best to get solutions/suggestions/tweaks to the recipes, unless they are so bad that we think they should be scrapped.

In Italy ( & I think Spain) the recipes on the website have symbols to indicate that they have been tested by Thermomix HQ.  It would be good to get as many recipes tested for time/temp/speed etc and we are here to help.

May also be an idea to look at using some of the winning recipes on here like baf65's Creamy CHicken in the Varoma ?

Hope we can still be friends

I have also thought so - just being a home cook, cooking basic meals for family, I have never had issues with poor ol' EDC - It has served me well.  ;)

You're not "just" a home cook Nay-Nay!  You are a very important home cook and are doing a great job for your family.  ;D

I also use the EDC quite a lot and we enjoy many of the basic homestyle recipes.  Actually out of all of the recipes I make my children seem to enjoy the ones from the EDC the most (italian shepherds pie, pasta e. fagioli, lasagne, pasta with tuna, creamy salami fettucine, fruity dream, custard etc).  I think it is important to remember that it is an Everyday cookbook and is suppose to provide the basics to get people started.  Having said that I do think it needs to do a great job of providing the basics and I think some of the recipes need tweaking and a few replacing.

I'm glad you are welcoming our feedback Tenina.  You will never be able to please everyone, but I'm sure you will be able to improve many of the recipes and replace a few that just aren't working.  I will email you with our list of favourites (that we personally don't think need tweaking) and a few that we have tweaked ourselves.  :)

OOOOOOOOO I love it that we are scary :D :D :D..

I agree that the basics in the EDC are good.

As many of us have tried and tested Isi's bread and Brazen's bagels. they should be included in any new cookbook.
