Title: dithering whether to buy................
Post by: joolsmicra on March 29, 2010, 10:43:35 pm
Hi, Im in the U.K, and dithering about whether to buy a thermomix or not! I was impressed by the demo, but since we dont have classes/ regular demos over here, I worry that it will become an unused relic in my cupboard!
I love looking at all the recipes here, so will be floating around for a while, untill I make my mind up!

Welcome jools!

I *dithered* for two months and now wonder what the hold up was!  :D

I've so far only been to one class since my demos.. and that was over 6 months ago.  Mind you, the TMX is used at least 3 times a day anyway!  ;D

Pretty sure you'd get plenty of support from your consultant... since they'd share your passion.  ;)

Hi joolsmicra! The TMX is designed to stay out on top of the bench and NEVER get put away. It is so easy to clean - even cleaning itself that you don't even hesitate using it. And it will get used breakfast, lunch and tea and even in between - don't know how I managed to cook before Thermie!!  :D ;) :)

Hi joolsmicra.  I took my time too and spent time on this forum before buying but can honestly say I haven't regretted the purchase and yes it's used every day in some way, never gets put away.  I'm sure you will know when the time is right for you.  :)

I'm probably not the right person to ask, since I procrastinated a whole 5 days before buying one. I bet it'll be even better when i actually get to see one in person :)

Russell.

It's a very hard decision to make joolsmicra. I have found this forum to be extremely helpful when things don't work or I have a failure. Also as a great source for recipes. Having said that I wouldn't be without mine. We only have 3 adults in the house but I use it multi times a day.  The longer I have it the more I use it for.

HiJools, I'm a demonstrator also in UK and I took about two months to get mine - that's how long it took uber-sceptic DW to agree. Now she's so into Thermomix she's also becoming a demonstrator! GO FOR IT, you won't regret it.

Hi Jools,
I have had mine maybe 3 weeks and have used it  every day.  I love checking out recipes and going for it.  Our diet has changed so much from having the  same meals week in week out , to never really having the same stuff.  The tmx just sits on the bench and gets used all the time and good news is it gets cleaned straight away..so easy.  It  is aloy of $ but the best kitchen purchase ever..  For example this week: mon- made some veggie stock with those veggies i would normally throw out.. whipped up butter chicken for husband for lunch, husband made pastry free quiche (from forum) for tea while I fed bub..hadvisitors and whipped up frozen desert..  Today: made peanut butter at breaky as we had run out.. lunch left over tmx pasta.. tea we just boiled eggs in it..and am just about to make choc banana nut icecream ... thats just 2 days!!  You wont be sorry!

dont dither.... just do it!!
BUY BUY BUY.
It took my DH about 6 months to relent to my nagging but I use it just about everyday.

You won't need classes etc if you stay on this forum. The level of knowledge and enthusiasm is UN-SUPRPASSED!!!!

Welcome to the crazy world of TMX  :P :-)) :o ;D

Hi Jools.  I'm also in the UK and have had my machine for about 9 months.   I've not regretted it for one minute and haven't found the lack of classes a problem.

This forum is incredibly useful in gaining ideas and also it's a great place to ask questions, even those you think may be really stupid ones.

The UK Thermomix people are really friendly and helpful as well and are always happy to answer questions.   There are some classes run by them but you have to keep an eye out for them.

As everyone else says, I think you should go for it.   It does seem a huge amount of money but once you've paid for it, I promise you you won't look back.

Hi Jools and welcome.

The Thermomix is a bit like your electric kettle, it stays on the bench!

You need to be perfectly sure that you're making the right decision. Spend some time here, read the recipes and drool over the photos. Then you'll know...

You're gonna want it!!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I think I will dip my toe in the water so to speak.
We live on a farm, and meals at this time of year are hectic to say the least, and also I have eldery dependants,so need to expand my list of soups/ puddings and'softer' food, with out resorting to packets and tins (it does feel a bit like charlie and the chocolate factory here, with the Grandmas in bed!).At the moment all my mum fancies is packet 'cup a soup' type things, and Im afraid they are full of nothing, with added junk, if you get my drift!
Im sure that once I get my 'thermie', I will be back asking loads of questions!
Jools x

I haven't seen that movie (even though it is on TV so often) but can imagine what it must be like having grandmas to look after Jools.  The TMX will whip up some lovely soups in no time (I hope they are adventurous) and soft desserts as well.  The custards or rice puddings can be cooking whilst you are attending to the grandmas' other needs.  Great decision to buy - hope you can get your hands on one very soon.

Not only is TMX perfect for making soups etc but also so very quick! Could make a soup than custard within half an hour!! And you know exactly what is in it and that everyones getting their vitamins etc  ;)

LOL - think you have come to the wrong place to ask about whether to buy - we are fanatical.  Worse than any religious sect I would venture to say  ;) ;) ;).

It is a great machine and once you have it you will find many reasons to recommend it to your friends - you will become a convert.
