hi, i am unsure if i am posting in the correct place, but i am sure someone will let me know :)
I have not as yet recieved my Thermy but i am trying to get prepared for his arrival. I have read many helpful posts but i was wondering if someone could help me with this.
I want to make a list of all the things i can make myself (instead of buying of shelf) and that is used on a daily basis or is needed in many recipes, therefore i can be organised and have it on hand.
An example of things i have thought of are; (please add if i missed something which i am sure of that's why i am posting!)
* salad dressing
* castor sugar
* icing sugar
* hommus
* dukkah
* butter
* jam
* stock
* sauces (bbq & tom)
I would love to hear everyone elses ideas.
THis is the most helpful and friendly forum I have ever been a part of.
Thanks heaps

Mum23, off the top of my head come the obvious - bread, biscuits, tortillas, pastry then there is cordial, fruit juice, ice-cream, washing machine powder or goo, yoghurt, playdough, cornchips, pizza sauce, curry pastes, coconut milk & breadcrumbs. Others will add plenty more I am sure.

You did well JD! Ummm - peanut butter, nutella, lemonade, muesli bars, rice-bubble bars (LCM'S)??
-
Wow, it seems endless. hope I will be able to find all recipes on the forum!
THanks for the help!
cheers :)

If you can't mum23, just ask and someone will post the link to the recipe. Sometimes things are a bit tricky to find - the search thingy hardly ever works for me.

I would add veg. stock concentrate. I've just made my first batch (after having my machine for 9 months ) and I use some of it most days.
Next time I do it (way in the future as there's so much of it :D) I will possibly add a bit less salt....

Thanks for the tips guys! keep em coming! I want to be ready and waiting rearing to go for when he arrives!!!
Off to bed now as i am frustrated at looking at all the cool things to do and still don't have him!
Cheers

The waiting is the worst part.

I love TMX mayonnaise, with a garlic clove... drool!

What about making rice flour first so you can make your own baking powder so you can make your own SR flour. ;) Oh and chocolate topping, coffee syrup - I think everyone else has mentioned all the other stuff I make. You said sauces - does that include tomato,sweet chilli,Worcestershire..... oh and don't forget your vanilla (you don't need TMX for that) ;)

Get some extra icecube trays as you'll go through extra ice, and also snaplock bags for freezing things like bananas, mangoes, berries and other fruits when you see them on special, ready for when you want to make smoothies, jam, fruit sauces.

A good supply of sugar for the sorbets and if you intend to bake bread some Bakers' Flour and yeast, plus the seeds to go in it.
-
All good hints and after 3 months you can follow the diet recipes ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

At the demo I hosted, my consultant had a Thermomix handout that asked if you regularly buy the following: icing sugar, mayonnaise, etc so there might be some things on there to add to your list. Maybe you could ask your consultant for the handout?

What about beetroot etc. for making salads. Tinned milk, eggs, chocolate and a good diet book ;D

Thanks for all the ideas! lol Gretchen! I totally understand what you mean. I am being very careful and only "sampling" my creations!
