How exactly do you do this? I don't want to burn the bowl out.
-
What are you making Lexi?
-
I always heat oil before sautéing anything, but haven't heated the bowl with nothing in it.
-
If you wanted to heat the whole bowl then put water from the kettle boiled in it and maybe cook on 100 for 4/5 minutes and then tip out the water and do what you want to do....
-
I want to cook mince in it, brown mince, but don't want it sticking like it does if you do it from cold. There was a thread, cant remember which thread, that suggested heating the bowl first.
Ok well boiled water seems safest option, hey. Thanks.

For browning mince or meat, I just heat the oil on varoma temp until it is very hot - when you add the meat you can hear it sizzle. I stay on varoma temp for searing the meat too.
-
You shouldn't burn it out - it doesn't get that hot.
I do as JD - heat the oil for 5 minutes or so on Varoma before browning meat, cooking seafood/fish
