hi everyone
i have had my tm for about 6 months and love it so have decided to go ahead and become a consultant.
i go to melbourne on tuesday for day 1 and am really looking forward to it.
how have others found being a consultant with young kids? is it hard to juggle both?
i am abit concerned that i won't get many demo bookings but am going to give it my best shot! any tips?
-
Good luck em - check the Demonstrators chat thread. Some succeed and others have troubles.
You should PM some of the mums in the demonstrators chat thread too.
Meagan is kicking goals and ILB has been coping with Grace, faffa_70 seems to have boundless energy, QuirkyJo has been at it a while, Can;t remeber this late about who else but think it depends a lot on support and you contacts list.
This has been written by somebody who has no kids and has wimped out on becoming a consultant despite many people having tried to encourage me - so take lots of grains of salt with it ;D ;D ;D
-
hehe thanks for your reply thermomixer. i have been contemplating it for ages and just decided to just do it, what is there to lose really??
-
Precisely em, just go for it and good luck.
-
Enjoy your training Em.

Hey Em, haven't been on here for a few days so sorry I've missed your postings.
Firstly: YAYYYY!!!!!! And congrats!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
Having a great hubby & extended family at home that will support you (read babysit kids for you) will make a huge difference. It won't be long until packing for a demo takes a fraction of the time than it did at the start and everything will run smoother. The beauty of it is that if you have a busy month with family commitments, you can control how much work you'll do with demos so can have a quieter month if needed.
Hey I'm a single mum and you can do it. So it'll be a breeze :-*
Wish you all the best.

thanks joelene! got my kit a couple of days ago so have been reading the recipe books i didnt have and reading the manual as well!! i am getting quite excited, as long as i can get through the training (being away from my little young one for whole days is going to be hard) but after that it should be ok!! how is your recovery going? all better i hope!
-
Thank you, yes pretty good. A few little niggles here and there but much better than prior to surgery.
It's hard to leave them, but personally I've gained a lot from TMX, so think of it that way.
All the best with training!
-
Do you have 2 ladies from Wodonga training with you?
-
umm not sure, i dont think there is anyone else from up here going down for the training as janine would usually try and combine day 2 and 3 to save country people from travelling, but seeing as i am the only one from up here she may not be able to. is there a couple more looking at starting up to? thats good.
-
Good luck with it Em ;D I have a 1 and 3 year old and trained a couple of months ago. I found it hard to leave my breastfed babe for training but now that I am doing demos it is fine and my DH is really supportive so that makes it heaps easier :) Enjoy!
-
Hi Em, I hope it all goes well for you! I love it - it's a good break for me, doing something I enjoy, as I homeschool my kids so getting out of the house on my own is a treat! My kids are 12, 10, 8 & 6, so it's not so hard to leave them with daddy or G'ma, or one of the many friends who've volunteered, which is nice. As ILB says, as long as you've got plenty of support, you'll be fine. It's great being able to choose your own hours.
Have fun! :)
-
There was a Liz and another lady?? that were keen to train in Feb but they may have delayed it again?
-
i'm not sure, janine and andrea both thought i was the only 'country' girl coming... will have to wait and see!
-
How did it go Em?
-
hi meagan
it went well! except for the fact that i was up 4-5 times with bubby the night before and had to struggle to keep my eyes open til coffee time! there was lots to learn and i have practiced a few of the recipes, i have to make the herb dip for next week.
now i am trying to book in whoever i can to have a demo for me!
but all in all it was a good day and i enjoyed it, ready for the next day.
-
How is it that the kids just know when you have something on and need your sleep?? My youngest did the same thing the night before last when I was due to do varoma training!! :-))
-
Well done Em. The kids, they always know. I remember DD doing the same to me too.
Well done with the training! It's a big trip with the drive each side too. You're doing really well!
-
yep meagan they just sense that you really need a clear mind the next day and decide to keep you up all night!!
thanks ilb!
kids!! hard work , not much sleep but i wouldnt be without them!
the good thing is i am going to the next 2 training days all on my own so will be staying overnight by myself, which means for the first time in 4 months i will get to sleep ALL night, yay no 3am feeds!
i wanted to ask you joelene if it would be possible to come along to one of your demos just to watch how you do it (and do your dishes of course!) and get some tips off of you if possible?
-
Sure. I'll give you a call.
-

...
bet you won't be able to sleep worrying ;D ;D ;D
-
Or you'll wake up automatically in the middle of the night because your so used to it.... that's what always happened to me. :'( :'(
-
haha i didnt go to bad, i would have slept soundly, but for the people coming back in from the acdc concert that woke me! unfortunately i'm not a great sleeper anyway regardless of the littlies!
the prac day was good, i frantically took notes on the flip chart seeing as i have my first demo in a week and am nervous about presenting it!
-
Good luck with the demo! Is it in your home town?
Just tell them it's your first and they'll completely understand. Besides your passion for thermomix will shine through and that's the main key to the demos.
-
yeah its here, just one of my friends so it should be ok but still going to be abit nervous! how did you go for your first demo?
-
There were lots of 'ums' in my first demo ;) :D You do just need to tell them it is your first and they will go easy on you :-* good luck
-
Good luck Em. Sometimes being in front of friends is harder than complete strangers.
-
I totally agree Cookie, I find it so much easier in front of people I don't know :D
-
My first demo was for my grandmother, a couple of aunts were there and they each brought a friend. In the end I had sold 3 out of the first demo. I actually hadn't made a sorbet before hand, so did warn them that I hadn't had a chance to make it before and it went beautifully! Couldnt have done it any better! Though I don't recommend it.
And yes, there were lots of ums... and pauses as I checked what else I needed to say on the back of the flip chart - lol.
-
lol wow ilb you did well!!
well i am now officially finished the training and on my 60 days, i want to sell 10 tms and get the trolley bag so am going to work hard these next few months!
-
You can do it Em ;) I did ;D
-
Have you got many demos booked em? I was going to do training in march, but I've got 4-5 friends saying they will buy at tax time. It seems to me that I'm going to need my friends/existing network in order to get those first leads. So I'm wondering if I should wait until May/June to do the training so that I stand a chance of booking enough demos, selling the 3 that you HAVE to sell, and also standing a chance of earning a bonus :-\ Bit of a quandary at the moment :-[
-
I definitely think it's best to have a few demos lined up before you 'sign on the dotted line,' so that you can get started a bit quicker - much better chance of selling 6 machines in 60 days then! All my first sales came from friends that were ready to buy once I signed up. Then from those demos you can get the ball rolling.
-
Good advice Jo - certainly then takes the pressure off you when doing demo's.
Good luck em!

Good work em - we're here to help - send people here if they have doubts - we'll help sell them.
-
thanks heaps!
i have 5 demos booked and am hoping i will get more as i do these parties!
i was getting really nervous about it and then i thought, the people at the party are new to tm so that arent gonna no if i stuff up the flip chart presentation! not so nervous now

That's right! They'll just be blown away with all the machine can do, anyway! ;D
-
Don't stress Em, 18 months down the track and I still walk away from demos remembering all the things I forgot to mention. There is so much information at a demo, that no one will notice ;)
-
I'm sure people are more interested inwhat the machine can do than what you have to say via the flip chart. They are probably thinking more of the machine.
