Title: Thermomix for Christmas!
Post by: Purplehat on December 25, 2009, 03:41:38 am
Hello!

My husband and I live in country Victoria, and we received our Thermomix today - Christmas Day of all days!

The microwave has been banished to the pantry to make room for the Thermomix on the kitchen bench.  :D

The book has mostly been read, but we havn't yet turned it on.

We got it because it will help save us money by making rice milk. We're very excited about that! All the other reasons are wonderful too, and the salads look particularly interesting.

We're on a restricted diet - no gluten, dairy or sugars etc etc.. and I'm hopeful that the Thermomix will help make our lives a little easier.  :)

See you all around the forum!!

Welcome to the Forum.   You will have a wonderful time here.   Try the Beetroot salad.    I made some for today, Christmas day.

Welcome to the forum purplehat.  Great idea to read up on the TMX before turning it on.  I usually turn new appliances on then read the manual later ??? ???  Have fun and I hope it saves you heaps.

Welcome purplehat - great to see another Victorian - which part of the state do you hail from - North-East perchance?

Thanks everyone! We're in Western Vic.

So far we've made our smoothies in it (the main reason why I started looking for a replacement blender in the first place), which have been great. I made the vegetable stock concentrate (minus some of the ingredients we can't have) and I found it very very strong. I had all the windows open, and it was very onion-y even though I only used a small amount of spring onion. :D

I made the mushroom risotto last night for dinner and it was interesting. I think it'll need a little fine tuning. ;)

This morning it made breakfast - rice porridge. Wonderful! 7 minutes (probably could be cooked for less time) and perfect taste and consistency without having to stand over the pot and stir constantly for 15 minutes (there abouts). Wonderful! I'm very happy with it! I have a feeling we'll be using this wonderful machine many times a day, every single day. I hope it can keep up!  ;D

The real question is Purplehat...can you keep up lol  :P :P. Glad you are having some early successes along with some that need to have your own personal tweaking.
