Title: Baby Cereals
Post by: sabimby on December 15, 2009, 06:53:16 am
I'm almost ready to start my baby on solids and thought I'd grind up whole grains in Thermomix and try to cook them as well. I have had a quick look on the forum and couldn't find anything, so hopefully I'm not doubling up. I want to convert the recipe below, but not sure if it would be 100C for 10 mins on speed 1 or 2. Any ideas of temp, time and speeds?

Maybe I would boil the water (not sure how long a cup would take), add the ground rice on  ^^ , but then don't know how to simmer using Thermomix  ???

Any ideas appreciated :)

Rice Cereal
Ingredients:
1/4 c. rice powder (brown rice ground in blender or food processor)
1 cup water
Directions:
1. Bring liquid to boil in saucepan. Add the rice powder while stirring constantly.
3. Simmer for 10 minutes, whisking constantly, mix in formula or breast milk and fruits if desired
3. Serve warm.

There are also similar recipes I've found for barley and oatmeal cereals.

You should be able to just put it in and heat it up - probably only need 90oC - for about 15 minutes (to account for heating up time) on speed 2.

The TMX will break up any lumps.

Is there anything at the back of the EDC?

Rice Cereal in the EDC is

2 1/2 MC water (or 250g if you want to weigh it straight in)
30g rice flour

Place all ingredients into Tm bowl and cook for 8 minutes at 100oC on speed 4. Remove and serve immediately.
