Just wondering if anyone has made these?
The recipe says to roast and skin the hazelnuts. Do you think it would be okay if I didn't do this?
If I should roast them, can I use Thermomix and how long / what temp?
I didn't roast or skin them when I made the hazelnut spread from the EDC, but they were ground up in that recipe and in this one they stay whole...

Don't quote me but I think the skins are bitter and that is why you remove them. I could be wrong!! Hope someone out there can answer for sure.

I'm pretty sure Kathryn is right. I don't know about the roasting in the TMX. I've never done it before. I'll be interested to find out too.

You'll get better flavour if the nuts are roasted and the oven is the best way. About 20 minutes at 150oC should be OK. Then let them cool a bit and put them inside a tea towel (or a clean sock) and roll them around rubbing them well to remove the skins.

Thanks for your replies. I guess I was just trying to save myself some work as I thought trying to get the skin off was a hard thing to do ;D
I think someone else I know (online) has roasted nuts in Thermomix before, so maybe I'll find out what nuts they were and what temp / how long.

Just remember to use a time when roasting nuts ;) . I'm forever forgetting about them until the distinctive smell of them burning reminds me :o :o >:(

That's one of the features of the TMX - no burning your nuts in the oven :o :o :o :o - but still not convinced that you can roast that many nuts at one time?
