This recipe is a combination of a magazine recipe (I think it was Women's Health October 09 issue) which was a little simple, and some extra ingredients inspired by Nico Moretti's Bourbon BBQ Sauce.

Thanks for that Cathy - been going to make BBQ sauce for a while - this might kick me into gear. ;)

Good work - like the variation with the soy and sugar for some extra character.

Thanks, just in time for the BBQ season.

Just made another batch of the BBQ sauce - very easy. We really enjoy this and its also great on a pizza.

I made this sauce yesterday and forgot to put the tomato paste in it :-)) :-)) Tastes just fine to me without it but I imagine it would be richer if I had put it in.
-
silly question but could this be eaten as soup??
-
Do you mean by adding some milk to thin it down curly? I wouldn't as is as it would be too thick and too strong for soup. There are tomato soup recipes in the soup thread which may be more suitable.
