Tenina
broke my machine ;) :D realised my machine wasn't working properly when she used it at the cooking class, so it has headed off to tmx hospital today :( meant i had to clean it up and pack it up last night and i'm having withdrawals big time :(
hurry home little tmx! :-* :-*
-
Poor Brazen!!!! Feel for you in your loss ... ;) Seriously, though - hope it's back VERY soon. I can't imagine being without my thermie now.
-
OMG!! My worst nightmare!! :o
Oh, I had to get some new blades a month or so ago and that took 2 days express... but at least Tim was still here...
Sending patience vibes to your house Karen... and super speedy vibes to TMX headquarters! :-*
-
What on earth did you make for dinner Karen???? Did you have to get out a saucepan (shock horror)? :o :o :o
-
LOL chelsea!
i made a vegie stir fry with noodles and tofu (would have been so much better in the tmx) and chicken wings in an asian sauce which could also have been done in the thermomix (though i do think they are a bit better done in a pan tbh)
dinner's not such an issue but i'm wondering what on earth i'm going to have for breakie, i'm so used to my smoothies!
-
Sympathies to you :-* :-* :-* I would be well on my way to a breakdown by now! The one time it is a bonus to live in WA - you are only without your machine for 24 hours ;D
-
Karen, you poor thing. I would be having severe withdrawal sypmtoms. I hope he copes with the big trip. How long will he be in hospital? We West Aussies should go and visit him- I'm sure head office would be really thrilled about that.
-
Good grief Karen, that is indeed a tragedy. What was wrong??? I sometimes think Thelma is tired & not working well (I know the feeling!!) but I never know how to check. There is a test they do related to how long it takes to boil a litre of water - can't remember what it is......
Anyway, swift & safe passage little friend. Hope you are home soon.
Here I go away from the forum for a few days & disaster strikes!!!
-
Im going to have to leave mine behind for 4 weeks while I go to England!! and I will have to use my mothers very unequipped kitchen ! I was half tempted to take TM with me, but lugging it around as hand luggage with 2 kids would be too hard!!
-
Oh, I had to get some new blades a month or so ago and that took 2 days express... but at least Tim was still here...
Why did you need new blades C?
-
mine had been making weird sounds for a while, i kept meaning to ask on here if it was normal but forgetting,b ut it was such an odd sound it was hard to describe (it sounded like the blades were hitting the sides of the bowl. a kind of grinding sound). then when tenina used it in the cooking demo she made like a double or triple batch of sorbet which apparently they should cope with just fine but mine couldn't and the sorbet came out with huge chunks of uncrushed ice in it :(
at least it's still under warranty, but i guess mine does get used more than average.
-
Hope that Steve has it safely back to you soon. I miss Bimby when I go away for a couple of days - just wish she weren't so heavy - goes over the carry-on limit. :(
-
Oh you poor, poor thing!! I hope he's back soon...
-
i can't tell you how much i hate cooking atm. i have no desire to cook if it means having to do things the old-fashioned way :-)) 8)

I sooooo get that!!
Here's hoping he's back speedily!! :)
-
Hope he's back soon!
I haven't made anything that hasn't used the tmx since I got it lmao
-
LOL i know the feeling snoozie!
-
heard from steve today re my machine's diagnosis. was not good - but at least it will be on its way back to me tomorrow!!!
apparently the engine had to be replaced, mainly because of too many spills in it (oops)
while it was apart he checked the scales and they were very grotty and had a good clean
the blade was stuffed and had to be replaced (REMIINDER to crush ice regularly, id idn't know to do it for the first 18 months)
there was a dint in the bowl which was causing it to leak
my poor machine :(
and, i can't believe it, it took a week to get there :( am praying it doesn't take another week to get back, i feel like i have one of y arms chopped off :(
and we are also hoping desperately that this is not going to happen in another 2 years when it won't be under warranty, must take better care of it :-[
-
A lesson for all of us Karen, to take care of them I suppose. I must make sure I crush more ice.
-
Oh dear! Well I guess it shows you use it a lot!
I need to go and put some ice in to chop.
-
:o Not a good diagnosis!! Hope it comes winging it's way home very soon! And LOOK AFTER IT!! :D
-
mmm crush more ice- That means more Margarita's ;D ;D :-* :-* There is the lesson for today brazen -more alcoholic drinks made with ice!!
Don't think I'll have any trouble with my blades.
-
I didn't know that we COULD spill things onto the motor!! :o :o ???
-
no me either caroline! or that you could ever need new blades :o
-
Thanks for asking that question as I wondered too. Perhaps one of our esteemed consultants could tell us how this happens so we can avoid it. Pretty please?
-
not sure which thing in particular you mean cookie lol
-
How we could spill things onto/into the motor. I thought it seemed all sealed up.
-
ahh! when you look at where the heating bits go in it's actually not sealed, so stuff can get in there. i have a habit of overfilling mine though so i have had overflows much more than i should, i am such a bad thermomix-mummy LOL
-
I hope it comes back soon Karen.
I was really worried that I had dented my bowl too as it was leaking badly. Thankfully a new seal fixed the leak. My blades are also ruined, but will have to do until I can afford a new set. I crush ice in my machine weekly now (instead of monthly as advised), but the damage is already done.

Always look on the bright side ;) ;) ;D
Think that some bits may go down the right arm where the clip is to engage the lid? Always worry that things may go down into the guts.
-
Thanks for the advice re bits going down into the motor. I will have to be very careful.
-
Hey is your invalid back home yet and all better?? Look after it now, y'hear? ;D
-
Tenina, it took a week to get there and steve said it will be around the same coming home! (boohoo) so probably not til mid next week. i hope you gave it some TLC for me ;)
-
Karen, I would have given it a hug for you today when I was there if it wasn't already on it's way home to you ;)
-
Wow, your little puppy was quite sick according to Steve...better give it plenty of TLC when it arrives (has it??) home! :o
-
hopefully arrive today or tomorrow tenina.
yes, i had best look after it a bit better from now on :-[ 8)
-
What still sensa Bimby ???
-
is it there yet, is it there yet???? :o :o :o :o
-
not here yet :'( :'( :'( :'(
-
*GULP* OMG are you still sane??!! :o :o :o :o :o
-
i'm stressed! i'm really over cooking the old fashioned way and i need to make a ton of cakes for the fete this weekend and i don't even know for sure i'll have my thermomix home. it had better be!!!!!!!!!!!
-
He's all lost and lonely out on the Nullabor somewhere/ or some caravaner has kidnapped him.
I'll keep my fingers crossed that he arrives 'home' soon.

Woooohooooo!!! Now you have to make up for lost time!!! ;D
-
I'm sure you will now appreciate your TMX a whole heap more having lived without it Karen. Bet it is working overtime at the moment.
-

-
Wow - have the withdrawals subsided yet?? ;)
-
i'm making a zillion cakes for the school fete this weekend so nearly LOL
-
Wonderful news.
Does it seem better to use?
-
i think i need to email or call steve, i made sorbet this afternoon and it was making the same grinding noises as well as the sorbet having the same huge chunks of ice and fruit that it just wouldn't get rid of :( :'(
-
Buggar!
-
Buggar too :(
-
Oh - Noooo! :'( That is just too sad!
-
ARGHHHHHHHH !!! - back over the Nullaboar.
-
Perhaps it would be good if a caravaner kidnapped it on the Nullabor and then it can be replaced under insurance. :-))
-
heehee can we arrange it? lol
imagine if it really happened, we'd be in big trouble lol
-
Oh, I'm sorry it's not back to it's usual self. I hope the issue can be resolved without another trip across the Nullabor! :-\
-
Feel so sorry for you. Glad that it is coming back soon. Why not celebrate with the following - Iced Irish Cream. For 6 people -
400mls of Irish cream , approx. 2 trays of ice. Tip all Irish cream into TM bowl, with 1 tray of ice; Zap on 9/10 until incorporated. Tip in 2nd. tray, and use spatula to incorporate. Does anyone want a homemade version of Irish Cream ?
-
Does anyone want a homemade version of Irish Cream ?
That would be great! There is a drinks section, and we have a baileys recipe (which I've been meaning to try) so that will fit in nicely.
-
Is that recipe like a sorbet achookwoman?
-
sounds delish though not kid-friendly haha
-
How is your TM going Karen...and more importantly, are you looking after the dear old thing? (Can you notice the differences in performance???) :D
-
it's ok ok at the run of the mill stuff, i need to make sorbet again though and see if it was just a one off to do a bad job at it the other week. have been sick so not much cooking going on
-
Hope you and the machine are feeling chipper soon. :-*
-
Get well quickly Karen, your machine awaits you.
-
Being sick is a waste of time Karen, get well soon and back into the kitchen. You have to test that TMX out to make sure there are no more problems - I'd hate to see it have to go back to Perth over Christmas.
-
Good one JD - from somebody who knows first hand. Really is so frustrating when you're not 100%
