Pretty much followed the recipe, but used Coleslaw Dressing, plus a tsp of French Mustard. Then I added another 200g cabbage and another tbsp of dressing. It needed this extra cabbage IMO.
I used a red apple and left the skin on for colour. Also added some leftover crushed pineapple, probably about two tbsp all up.
Delicious. Easy as anything and clean up a breeze!! I'm impressed.
-
Thanks. I'm sure pineapple would really add to the flavour. I must try it.
-
Interesting additions thanks MJ! :)

Thnaks for the ideas - it is so easy to do and yes - cleaned up in seconds. :-*

I make this a lot - kids love it which is great. You can do a little or a lot. It makes a good meal with TMX chicken nuggets!

Runs rings around that which you can buy in supermarkets & chicken take-away shops which is swimming in mayonnaise - I hate that stuff. I must admit though that I do love KFC coleslaw but we never buy there these days since watching our fat intake.

Last night I used wombok and added grated cheese when stirring in the dressing. Very yummy
I add the dressing and then stir on reverse sp 1 until mixed. Can't remember if the recipe says that or not, but its easy!
-
Sounds good with the wombok - nice thinking.

I have made this tonight and I'm not sure about the texture of it. It is a bit chunky with some of the vegies (some big chunks of onion and carrot). Do others keep it blending for a bit longer than the 4 seconds (I think) or have another technique for more consistency? Thanks
-
I have commented on this in your other thread abudanceatangas.
-
the key is to also have even sized pieces when you start to help minimise the chunks - and use the spatula to push everything over the blades ;)
-
Thanks!

we avoid chunks by blitzing the carrot for a few secs before adding other ingredients. My kids eat this by the kilo! I find adding fennel, raw beetroot and other veg works well to make a different flavour
-
I love the idea ofadding fennel or coleslaw, super healthy!
-
We aren't fans of this :( it doesn't have enough tang and the apple just doesn't taste right in my opinion. Maybe if we used a bought coleslaw dressing it would be better.
-
BecciM. - maybe substitute celery for the apple and add red capsicum and see if that changes your mind.
I didn't think my fussy DH would like my TMX coleslaw but with a few alterations, he was hooked.
-
Will try that Chrissa thanks :)

BecciM, this Magic Mayonnaise (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=2717.0l) is really nice on coleslaw.

Thanks JD

Bumping this as it is such a quick and tasty salad. Blitz the carrot a bit by itself before other ingredients to avoid chunks, add other hard veg if you like (fennel, Beetroot, celeriac) and a lovely salad in about 30 seconds! I add an extra tablespoon of mayo as I find it a bit dry otherwise but it is so much nicer than the gluggy store bought version.

Made this tonight - great fast salad for 40 plus evening in Melbourne.

Snap - good for 40 plus evening in Geelong too 😀

Yes, I now blitz the carrot first. Haven't thought to add fennel, that would be a nice change.

Another easy recipe. Yay!
