Ok so I was wondering.............if I had some cream frozen in cubes and I wanted to make some chocolate icecream tonight - serious cravings happening here!! Could I blitz sugar, melt chocolate wait for it to cool then mix it with the frozen cream? Would that work? Any suggestions and any idea on quantities?
HELP PLEASE ;D ;D ;D

Damn daylight saving!! I resorted to cold chocolate custard and vanilla icecream :-)) Maybe I can make the chocolate icecream tomorrow night after all of the knowledgeable ones have made comment ;)

I don't know if it helps, but I made strawberry icecream last night, using frozen cream, fresh strawberries and sugar. It needed a little time in the freezer, but was DIVINE. I was actually wondering how to do it quickly with chocolate. I decided if the chocolate was frozen, it might work!
I might give it a go this week, when the strawberry is all gone ;)

Maybe try using the chocolate custard to make the ice cream? Very rich gourmet ice creams are made using eggs and cream.
I'd make the custard using cream (mmmm) then alternate the freezing and beating as per ice cream.
If you wanted it to be really special, use a very top quality chocolate like Callebut or Valrhona.
Could be worth a try. :)

Meagan I don't see why it wouldn't work, but then I'm no expert. With all those things as the ingredients it would have to taste nice.

I have made chocolate icecream by reblitzing frozen chocolate custard it was really really yummy. I just didn'thave any frozen last night!!

Ok I blitzed some sugar 40gm crushed the chocolate 120gm ( dark cooking choc was all I had ) melted it with a little bit of cream then let it cool slightly, added the frozen cream blocks one tray full and blitzed it together. I found it a bit too rich so mixed it with some vanilla icecream already made from the EDC book that made it a much better flavour.
I much prefer the flavour of the frozen chocolate custard blitzed with a bit of milk - much lighter without the cream ;)

I tried it tonight too, but I was lazy. I just powdered the chocolate and sugar, and then added the cream. I hoped it would all churn together nicely, but it was a big FAIL!!
Not to be dissuaded, I melted the mixture, and am freezing it. Will try blitzing it tomorrow night and see if it turns into chocolate icecream!

I've got a nice choc icecream recipe that's just begging to be converted. I'll post it here for anyone who wants to have a go.
CHOCOLATE ICECREAM
450ml thickened cream
150g Nestle Plaistowe Couverture Deluxe Chocolate or one with min 60% cocoa, roughly chopped
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 egg yolks
75g caster sugar
Place the cream and chocolate into bowl over simmering water. Cook over a low heat, stirring occasionally until mixture is smooth.
Attach wire whisk to KA. Pour the mixture into the mixing bowl. Turn to speed 2, add the vanilla, egg yolks and sugar, mixing for 1 min.
Place the bowl into the fridge and chill for 30 mins or until the mixture is really cold but not set firm.
With the ice cream maker turned on. Pour the mixture into the bowl. Churn for 25 mins until the mix is rising up onto the paddle.
Remove from the bowl and serve immediately as a soft serve or spoon into an airtight container, seal and freeze over night for a firm consistency. Remove from the freezer and stand for 5 mins before scooping and serving.
The above amounts was half the recipe stated to fit into my ice cream maker. If you have a bigger one, then double the quantities.

I saw a liquorice icecream recipe the other day. We love liquorice so I may have a go at converting that. DD said she won't eat black icecream but DH and I certainly will.

The icecream turned out beautiful, so creamy, smooth and so chocolatey but not sickly. Would be especially perfect for a special occasion, So much nicer than any you could buy.

Well, I blitzed the chocolate cream icecubes tonight, and the texture is just not right :(. Will have to ponder this one further. I don't have a KA to do the other recipe....

Well, as George (Thermomix fan) Calombaris said in his book Press Club - some people like it and some hate it.

Actually it was his book that I saw the recipe in. I 'd say he's right too, there is no middle road with liquorice.

That's true. I'm sure my husband would gag if I served up a liquorice dessert. :o :o :o
