My bf is feeling the first symptoms of a cold. I thought I would make him some chicken soup. Does anyone have a recipe for 2-4 servings in the TM?
I am a vego and I don't usually make meat dishes in the TM.
I would like to use real chicken, not stock cubes/powder.
Help?

My thoughts were to put some wings or drumsticks in the basket, whiles making a standard vegie soup and cook it for a really long time?

Sounds as good as any idea - you can sometimes get chicken necks cheaply (people use them for their cats to chew) - just put them in the basket and make veg soup plus chicken bones

Thanks :)
I did a bit of research and I am just going to make quick chicken stock in my pressure cooker, then use that to make a soup.
Should take anywhere between 15-40mins in the pressure cooker. Pretty quick. :)

Hi Sim, I think there's a liquid stock recipe in the EDC under the Basics section.

I tested a theory for you tonight Sim. Placed 3 chicken carcasses in the varoma dish, put some vegies in the bowl (carrot, turnip, swede, onion cut in halves and 2 stalks celery - cut into large chunks). 2 fresh bayleaves & 12 whole peppercorns. Filled up to the maximum mark with boiling water, put the varoma in place and cooked for 45 minutes 100oon Reverse, speed 1. After the time was up, I removed any meat I could find on the carcasses, strained the contents of the jug into a bowl, returned the liquid back into the TM bowl along with all the vegies (picking out the bayleaf and peppercorns first).
Blitzed to chop the vegies on speed 7 for 3 seconds then added the chicken meat back into the dish. At this stage I added a packet of chicken noodle soup mix but you probably wouldn't want to do this so perhaps add some broken up quick cooking noodles and some homemade stock concentrate. Cook for further 5 minutes 100o Reverse, speed 1. Taste and season with S & P. This is basically a more time consuming recipe than the one I have already posted for chicken and vegetable soup because in that one, I use a packet of chicken stock and some chicken pieces.

Recipe that I have is as follows:
1 carrot
1 turnip
1 stick celery
small tin sweetcorn
1 leek (only white part)
big piece of chicken/turkey with bone (I remove skin/fat)
piece of serrano ham (optional)
1500g water
salt & pepper
(I also use a garlic clove or 2)
Roughly hand chop all the veg and place in THX, place chicken and bones in the basket. Add water and salt and program 60 mins 100º speed 1. Strain and serve, or if you like strain and add some pasta numbers/letters/stars and cook further 5/7 mins. My kids love this. The turkey version is really tasty!

Thanks very much everyone :). I didn't get a chance to read these till this morning, but I made chicken stock in the pressure cooker (20mins) and then used that to make a basic soup. He chose the ingredients he wanted and he loved it. I made the whole thing on the stove top in the end, because while that was cooking, I was making myself a vegetarian soup in the TM.
But, now that I have these recipes, I'll try it again at the end of the week when he has got through his current batch. He was very excited to be eating chicken, lol. It's the first time I have made it for him!

Hope he's feeling better soon - remember to wipe his brow and say " Poor little bunny" ;) ;) ;)
