Title: Help converting
Post by: sunshine on October 02, 2009, 02:35:29 pm
Hi Everyone hope we are all happy I am trying to work out how to convert some favourite recipes to the tmx.  Is there a general rule when it comes to converting eg: if I have to beat I should use a certain number on tmx or if I have to mix use  :-: back of the blades?  Any feedback would be appreciated.

Cheers

Hi Sunshine.
It depends what you are trying to do.
For chopping veggies etc. try speed 4-5, stopping every few seconds to check until you reach the desired consistency.
Mixing really depends on what is in the TMX. A cake mix may take anywhere between speed 4 for a smaller more fluid consistancy mix, up to speed 7ish for a fuller bowl with a thicker consistancy. BUT if you want to mix without cutting then use a slower speed and the Reverse  :-: function.
Creaming sugar and butter I'd use speed 4.
In your cook book you should have a "Guide To Basic Functions) which also comes as a fridge magnet for easy reference.
Hope that helps a bit.

I am compiling a few things that I have been gleaning from this website, and hope to post within the week, it will be under "How to" but can't remember what section...could be Recipe Tweaking or something like that. Hopefully other more experienced people will then add and comment to make this a more valuable segment. I think that converting a recipe should be more specific and under one section rather than trying to find bits here and there, and perhaps Moderators once this gets going will post things into this section if relevant so newbies and everyone else can benefit.  :) :) :)

Anybody should be able to add to the tips section - sometimes what seems logical to one is a revelation and mind-shattering to another.

Any tips at all could be added to the tips section - if you think - Hey that's good - copy and post it in the tips section.
