Title: Hi from Canada
Post by: Tebasile on September 24, 2009, 09:15:33 pm
Hi there,

I'm happy to see a raw food section here. I'm original from Germany and use the thermomix for more than 11 years. We've lived five years in the States and for almost five in Canada. I love raw, vegan and local vegetarian food. I'm an consultant in Ontario and a Certified Living on Live Food Chef. More and more people ask me to share my recipes in english instead german  :)

Cheers,
Elisabeth

Oh hi and welcome Elisabeth.  You have so much more experience than most of us - we are all newbies compared to you.  Lovely that you have joined us and can perhaps contribute some recipes/hints along the way.

Hi Elisabeth - welcome to the forum.  It is a fabulous forum as well.  I am sure you can teach us a few things after using it for 11 years.

Welcome Elisabeth. Do you still enjoy your Thermomix after 11 years? We're almost all new owners and are very addicted.

Hi Elisabeth!

Ich bin auch von Kanada! Ich wohne in Victoria, BC und ich bin NICHT Deutsch! My father was German though, and I learned to speak the language from my grandmother when I went to Darmstadt often to visit her as a child.

I am happy to meet you here. This is a fantastic forum, and we can learn so much here. But I am a new student, and you will be one of the "teachers" here for sure...  I received my Thermomix in the last days of August and I have been so excited about it that I started a blog... and the blog became a site... and now I dont' have time for anything else. I am trying to help more people in western Canada to learn about Thermomix because we are so very far behind other countries... Hope we meet again soon...

Helene you are a hoot. Where on earth did you find the sand video? This would be great for those people who want a sandbox filled with the finest grains of sand.

What else can we do with this machine which does not involve food? :-)) :-)) :-))

Ah yes, the sand video...   For all those who want "Gourmet Thermomix Sand" for their private beaches, you can order some up for yourself here: http://SuperKitchenMachine.com/2009/352/make-fine-sand.html

Maybe one day dear Gretchen, you and I will put our tired bums down on some gourmet sandy beach and sip a cold Thermomixed drink, suck on some smoked salmon samples, and giggle our way into the Aussie sunset.

You think I'm a hoot! Just for the record: I am pedaling my hooty bike as fast as I can to keep up with you Aussies, believe you me! I think (and this is just a theory) that you get more sunshine than we do, and so you are all a tad more 'lively' down there in the land of Oz...

Truly, it is quite the cultural education to have landed unsuspectingly into this warm and fuzzy and very lively Aussie forum. I feel like I'm at a big Thermomix Barby feast, (isn't that what you call them?) and everyone is wearing shorts and sandals, except me... I'm in my snow parka with my beaver-skinned hat and my mittens on... and.. (here's the best part) we are all laughing together!

bye for now,
TMB

Well TMB, I can assure you that not all forums are as friendly here in Oz.  You may see comments occasionally about other forums and how b**chy they can be.

One forum has members who have removed my posts about Thermomix - and I don't sell or promote them - catty

TMXer your comments are sad but oh so true. :'(
Having said that there is certainly something about this forum-perhaps we are linked by our TMXes.  ;D ;D ;) ;) ;D
Title: a theory about the fabulous forum folk
Post by: ThermomixBlogger on October 09, 2009, 03:24:00 am
Yes, I'm going to agree with cookie1 and go out on a limb --  Even though I'm new here, I'm going to theorize and wax philosophical if I may.

I think:
TMX users must all be some kind of open-minded, free-willed quasi-rebels or something. :o   They are early-adopters in their respective lands of a product that some people think is overpriced and unnecessary, they (we) stick to their guns and believe in themselves enough to stand by their product of choice. Not only that, but they get up on the proverbial soapbox and shout about it to people in far away places. These are people who are not afraid of being judged by others, and who know what they like. They're people who are willing to add creative challenges to their already busy lives, and who are willing to experiment in the playground of the unknown. From what I can see from over here, across the water, I think Thermomix users are a great bunch and I'm tickled to be counted among them. Maybe they're the "funlovingest" of all the Aussies... and the healthiest, and definitely the most efficient.

I just hope that I can get a few more to join the ranks closer to home because I simply can not afford a trip to Oz. Even if I could, I have to tell you right now, that I am terribly prone to violent air-sickness, so that such a trip will never, never happen.  :'(

So you see, I have an enormous job ahead. Not only do I need to enlighten disparate Canadians about the wonders of TMX, but I have to make it so that in a year or two, my town will be ready to host the Global Thermomix Party, all because I can not fly.  :'(

Cheers,
TMB
(And I can't get over the fact that I have an Aussie nickname already!  8)

I love hearing you on your soap box Helene - a more passionate person I'm yet to meet and this forum is full of lovers of the TMX. You certainly have a way with words - good on you and we wish you every success in the world with your new forum and getting your message out to the people of Canada.

Aw shucks, thank you Judy - but I can't let your sincere compliment go without a correction --  just for the record, I haven't and do not ever plan to start a 'forum'. This right here is one fantastic forum, and there will never be need for another. I'm blogging is all, and I yes I am working it pretty hard because Canada is a huge land and we have to shout quite loudly to hear each other. I thank you for your supportive words, but please, this one is the only forum for me! Blogging is enough work, I can't imagine how these forum managers get any sleep at all, and still, they are all so good natured  :-* ... it must be something in the water...(as they say)

Thanks again,
TMB

Awwww Judy  :)  Lucky you with a baby! I held a baby at a party last week-end, and it was truly the first time in YEARS that I'd held one. Oh so very, very nice, and so grounding... in a way that makes you reassess all the priorities of life.

I do understand about babies and not thinking properly. I feel the same way about having my new (Bimby) baby in the kitchen. Very distracting indeed.

Warm wishes to you and yours,
TMB
