Title: Grain bread
Post by: grandma on September 21, 2009, 01:07:54 pm
My DD has asked me to make some grain bread - I think she'd like it similar to the Cape Seed loaf that Bakers Delight sell.  Does any know of a recipe for this or do I just add as many different seeds as I want to the bread recipe that comes with the TMX cookbook.

Thanks.

Grandma, I'd make the 5 Seed loaf. A lot of us have made that and we all seem to like it.

I think this is the link to the recipe.  I'm not good at posting links.

Great.  Will get the ingredients and try that tomorrow - I really need to study the recipe book - had no idea this recipe was there!!  I've just been making the one that I was shown at the demo - and that's pretty good!!! So thanks for the reply cookie1!!

Cape seed loaf was in the old EDC and replaced with the 5 seed loaf - see how you go - we can give you the Cape Seed recipe

No that's fine.  I will try the one in this recipe book - just a bit worried about making such a heavy bread - thinking it might come out like a brick!!  If it fails then I'd love to try the other one.
I just love it when my kids ask me to make something and it comes out right - it just makes me feel good.

Hey Gretch, Never new how much I'd love this grandma thing.  When my DGS (7 months) sees me and starts smiling and waving his arms around it just makes my heart melt - I'm totall in love with him!
About to make up some nice thick vege soup for him in the TMX - can't wait till he's able to ring me up to say 'I want to come and stay with you grandma'!!! :D

I wonder how the 5 seed bread is going?  I don't find it heavy at all. If it is too heavy for you perhaps 2 risings would solve that. We also love the Cape Seed bread, especially DD is most of the seeds are milled in that one.
Cyndi's herb bread is lovely too, you don't have to put the herbs in it.

Hey cookie1, I just got home with all the ingredients for the bread, the actual recipe in my book is for Cape Seed, I don't think I have the 5 seed one- but then again, maybe I haven't looked through my book properly.
DGS is fast asleep, and I don't want to start milling until he wakes up.
By the way, would you have any idea how to make Phillipa's fig and aniseed bread?  I love it and would love to know how it's made.

Sorry don't know how to make the fig and aniseed bread, it sounds interesting.
Here is the recipe for the 5 seed bread if you want to use it.
