Green Beans with Char Siu Sauce
325g green beans trimmed

2-3cm piece peeled ginger (or 2 teaspoons grated)

Place 500-600g of hot water in TM bowl and place beans in Varoma. Steam on Varoma temp, speed 1 until beans are cooked to your liking. (About 8-10min) Set aside (in Thermoserver if you have one) and keep warm.
Place garlic & ginger in *: Chop 5 sec, speed 7.
Add vinegar and Char Siu sauce to *: and saute 3 min 100 degrees speed 1
Add beans and half nuts 10sec, :-: speed 1

Tips/Hints: Char Siu Sauce is a honey based Asian sauce available in most Australian Supermarkets or Asian Grocers. Char Siu literally means "suspended over fire", referring to the traditional barbequing of meats marinated in Char Siu Sauce.

Sounds like a lovely side dish for Asian style marinated meat and rice. Thanks VHJ, I need a lot more recipes like this to fill my Asian category in my forum recipe folder.
-
Thanks - nice tasty little recipe. You could certainly cook some rice in the basket while steaming the beans.
I had my hopes up when I saw the title that you were going to give us a recipe for char sui sauce - but it so sheap in the Asian grocers and shops anyway - greta flavour combo

Me too Thermomixer. I love Nicos recipe "Dragon-style barbeque pork & soba noodle salad" & was hoping there would be a recipe here for char sui so I could do my own BBQ pork..........
However, appreciate the contribution Jan.

Googled Char Siu sauce recipe and found this. Sounds easy to BBQ our own fillet of pork.

Therefore I'll be a very happy Jean.
The recipe sounds good. A nice variation. Like Judy I've added it to my collection.

Just in the nick of time as I need to use up 500g green beans somehow

VHJ, finally got around to trying this one today and it is so scrumptious. I made it in advance as I had a lot of things going at once today but it reheated well. Served it with Gretchens Thai Fish Cakes and sauteed some bok choy and partly cooked carrot.

Thanks for such a lovely recipe.

Glad you liked it JD. Your meal looks fabulous.
