Title: New Thermomix User NW USA
Post by: Camano Chef on September 15, 2009, 11:45:45 pm
Hello all,

I just got a new Thermomix via Canada as they are not sold in the USA.

I know several other Chefs that use the machines and I am busy playing with this remarkable machine.

I originally became aware of the machines due to the great popularity and wide use by chocolatiers.

As I researched the Thermomix I realized that there is really nothing like it on the market.  I plan use it for sabayans, cheese sauces and soups, etc.

As I become familiar with the machine, I am sure I will find many other uses.

There is much great information on this website.  Thanks to everyone.

Phil

Hi & welcome Phil.  I'm sure you will find heaps of things you can do in the TMX, apart from those you listed.  It will be a great help to you in your line of work.  I believe some restaurants here in Australia use theirs for risotto too, not just sauces, custards etc.  Have fun.

Hi Phil,

Welcome.  I am a newbie as well and haven't had my machine a week yet.  It is just fantastic though and I love it already. This site is also incredibly supportive.

Hope you have many happy meals with the TMX.

Welcome Phil,
I sell to a lot of chefs and the most popular use is for purees and custard for making ice cream; followed by mayonnaise and chocolate ganache and then spice grinding. Each chef would like a machine on every workstation!
Good luck with your machine and hopefully you will post some new recipes for us.

Hi Phil and welcome. When I dine out I often ask if the chef has a thermomix and am not surprised when they say yes.The clue can be in the reduction sauce or the risotto or even the mashed potatoes or puree. Soon you will want two. I am not  a chef and I want two!

Hi Phil,

Welcome!
I'm a new TM owner too, and it is fantastic for cooking things that need endless stirring over heat like sauces and custards. It's like having a fast mechanical whisking arm that never gets tired! lol
Seeing as though your a chef, will you be posting any yummy recipes? I would love to hear about any new recipes you discover whilst using the TM.

:) Enjoy!

Welcome Phil - there are not many sites with recipes from chefs.  One is http://www.britishlarder.co.uk/ (http://www.britishlarder.co.uk/)

Yes, it's nice to have them come to you rather than the other way round.  I used to go looking occasionally (not often enough though) so I have also subscribed to this one now.  Thanks Cookie1.  Love the idea of the Plum and Blackberry Ice-Cream.

All we need is the plums and the blackberries.
