Surprise everyone. The forum is back, sadly we have no idea for how long. Judy and I have been in contact with MM but haven’t had a lot of feedback. In fact my last email to him was quite pointed. And said that obviously the forum was dead. I didn’t get a reply.
I hope everyone is well and life is fun. ❌❌❌❌

So nice to see it working, hopefully it will stay like that. I’ve found that I really need it when it’s down as I think our recipes are much better than Cookidoo. I’ve just browsed a few pages of biscuits and cakes and it’s great that we have so many reviews for most recipes. The number ranking system on Cookidoo doesn’t do it for me.

It's so good to have the forum up and running again. I do miss it when it's down. I agree with you Judy, I rarely use anything from Cookidoo, if I want a recipe or to check something I always look here first.
-
I must agree. The recipes on here are tried and tested, often with comments as well.

Hello everyone.
What a fluke - I was just about to delete the forum from my contacts and thought "oh I had better make sure that it is really dead", and here it is. I will let Chookie know as we were talking over Easter about the forum and she may not be aware that it is up and running again, for however long ... MM has certainly done his best to kill it these past couple of weeks so I suspect we should make the best of it whilst we can.
Having said all that (pessimist that I am) I am delighted to have it back again, I missed you all. I must try to go through everything so that I can transfer recipes to my cook book - how do you go through 10+ years of posts?
-
True Marina. I have a boxful of print outs of recipes I’ve done but I still like to check out things I’ve not done and read reviews etc. Our needs and diets change over time.
-
I have the same intentions.
-
So agree with everyone it’s so nice it’s back , I missed everyone . Also think the recipes are better on here.
-
Thanks Marina for letting me know . I had deleted the Forum from my iPad but fortunately it was still on my phone. Spent hours trying to reinstall it on iPad. Hell, I do miss all you lovely people.
The greatest mystery of all time is why the membership for the Forum has dropped off. It’s free, has thousands of recipes with comments and are more relevant than Cookidoo. I see people new to TMX asking for basic recipes. They are all on the Forum. Can’t recommend people to Forum when it’s down so often.
I have been using Facebook but it’s not the same. I don’t know these people so I’m hesitant to post often. Also there are several TMX sites on Facebook.

Oops, I forgot to say how grateful I am for the effort Judy and Cookie make in contacting MM. very frustrating for you both but we do appreciate your efforts.
-
Thanks Chookie, glad you didn’t delete the forum from every device. I see MM hasn’t added new members for some time. I printed out your Portuguese custard tarts recipe as soon as it came back, DD1 would love these.

I agree totally. Thank you both so much for getting us back together on the forum again.

I think we need to do some forward planning. Any ideas?
-
Yes thank you Cookie and Judy so much for all your work on this .

I agree, it would be such a great shame if we lost everything on the forum - not only friendships but a treasure trove of recipes and stories. I don't know anything about how a forum works or how to operate it. Is it covered by MM's copyright? Does anyone know anything about these things? Didn't some of the older members create a separate forum several years ago? Does anyone know anything about that?

Thermomixer started a blog in 2010 but then found this forum and suggested we use that. Therefore there are only a few recipes on here http://thermomix-er.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2010-01-16T08:46:00%2B11:00&max-results=7. Leave it with cookie and me for a bit to see if we can get some information on our forum’s future.

I plan to send an email to Mr IT tomorrow with a few queries. If anyone has anything specific they would like me to ask, just pop them in a reply here.

Judy, if you make the Portuguese tarts, there are a couple of tricks that I’ve discovered since posting the recipe.
Make the custard well ahead, so it’s cold when poured into cases. When making the custard, mix on speed 5 for 10 seconds before and after to prevent lumps. Use a large round pastry cutting ring to get the pastry the correct size. Work out which oven shelf will cook the tarts without having to shift them when baking. To see if they are cooked, look at how brown the edges of the pastry is. They are best eaten the day they are made. However I have been told that they are ok 4 days later.
Cookie and Judy , you are wonderful. I can’t even imagine what questions to ask. However I understand that the Forum isn’t really free. It depends on the adds inserted and the number of people using the site. The addition of more adds is because of the diminishing numbers. With no one pushing to increase numbers for the Forum, as against the aggressive promotion of other sites, we are running a losing battle.
I’ve lost several recipes on other sites that have just closed down. I’m now very nervous about putting all my eggs in one basket.
-
Thanks Chookie, I’ll have to make them when DD is over as she is the tart lover and will help us eat them. For just the two of us you know who won’t be able to stop once he starts 😁
-
Judy, the Portuguese Tarts bring out the worst in people. At Probus, when 4 people wanted the last tart, they cut in into 4. At a neighbourhood get together, I’ve seen one person shift the plate of tarts to in front of her. I’ve seen a family member hide several tarts before the plate was placed on the table. I’m making some tomorrow to take out for dinner.
-
Ha ha Chookie, I’ve seen that done when I supplied the prawns for Christmas a few decades ago. I peeled them to make it easier and cleaner to eat and one guest never left that end of the table until the last prawn had gone. They think we don’t notice these things.
-
Exactly, Judy. I’ve been a little guilty myself, but try not to pig out. A neighbour makes the best ham sandwiches and another egg and lettuce sandwiches. These are things I don’t often make.
-
I sent an email to Mr IT. MM gave us his address. I haven’t heard anything back from him.

Hope you get a response soon. We have found in business these days people don't like to talk to or communicate with other people. It's very strange. We make an effort to respond to every email that needs a response and often get acknowledged or thanked for getting back in touch to their original contact.
-
Well done Cookie. Hope he can help.
-
Thanks Marina. That’s quite interesting.
