I'm not sure if this is the correct section for this query, but I am sure Judy, CC or Cookie will put me on the straight and narrow if I have got it wrong.
Quite a simple question, really. Can you make ice cream if you don't have an ice cream maker So many ice cream recipes say to churn the mixture, how does this differ with zapping it in the TMX - apart from the obvious difference if you zap it too long it gets hot?

You're in the correct section Marina.
The EDC has a Creamy traditional ice-cream recipe, no ice-cream maker needed.
Check out some of the recipes in this list too, some may use an ice-cream maker but many won't.

Thanks, Judy. That's quite some list but I will work my way through it slowly and also check out the EDC - funnily enough, I would never have thought of looking in that book.

Marina I find the icecream that goes quite well without churning is 600ml of cream and a tin of condensed milk, with a dash of vanilla. Put all these into the bowl and beat up until you feel it has thickened a little. You can add all sorts of flavourings to this, eg Ferro Roche, fruit puree, choc bits or cocoa, nuts and dried fruit. After you beat it in the thermomix just pour it into the container you plan to freeze it in. It is best taken out of the freezer about 20 minutes before you plan to eat it.
I think spanner or someone suggested this first. http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3895.0

I have been wondering the same about how to make an icecream in TM as I dont have an icecream maker..
Would love to make some at home without sugar which my LO can have!

Tenina posted some tips on FaceBook about making Icecream both with and without an icecream machine. Sorry no idea on linking, if possible!

Thanks for that tip, Denise. Here is a link to Tenina's "ice cream collection (http://tenina.com/recipes/collection/icecream)" which looks like it should answer all questions.

Thanks Marina, I'll put that link in our URL list of ice-cream recipes (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=8562.0).

Thanks Marina, I do love Tenina and find her recipes always tasty and they work!

She's posting little videos of all sorts of helpful hints at the moment. I think everyone is getting hints , no matter how long you have owned your machine.
