After Katie made her Polenta Chips ( http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=320.26655) I thought it would be nice to have a new challenge. Judy and CC agreed.
Here is a new challenge for us all. Make and review something from an early thermomix book, eg Meat on the Menu, Seafood Bounty, A Taste of Vegetarian, Healthy Eating with Cyndi O'Meara, a Taste of Asia, Gluten Free Wheat Free cooking or any other I can't remember. Or perhaps one of the earlier calendars if you have them.
If you don't have any of these books make and review something from the EDC or the book you received when you purchased your thermomix.
I hope you enjoy looking for and trying some new recipes.
Judy and CC please add or subtract from the post if I have missed something. Thanks.

They're the small spiral bound books cookie, what about the bigger ones?

Like the look of this Challenge. Will pick up inspiration and get me out of my comfort zone.
-
Good idea Cookie, I will do my best.
-
Thanks Judy. I should have noticed those sitting on the shelf as well. :D
-
great idea cookie, I haven't cooked from these books for ages
-
I've plenty of time to browse recipe books at the moment so I did just that after cookie posted this challenge. I went for the Seafood Bounty book because there have not been many reviews from this book.
See my review here Savoury pancakes (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=16658.msg397819#msg397819)

Thanks for starting us off Judy.

Judy, that looks lovely. I'm not cooking much as I hope to go to Melbourne Friday morning. I'll have to do mine when I get back.
-
Thanks cookie, there's plenty of time for others to join the challenge. Enjoy your trip.

Looking for something simple for tea without having to go to the shop. This recipe is from Travelling with Thermomix, Lover's Soup (carrot, ginger and orange juice). Quick, simple and enjoyable.
See full review here (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=16665.0)
-
The soup looks nice, but gosh I love the bowl.
-
Nice work Judy, it sounds similar to Carrot & Coriander soup from EDC, that has ginger and Orange rind.
Very yum!
-
I should have made these the same day as I made the soup, they would have been the perfect accompaniament.

I've been sick for months CP and this challenge was just what I needed to get me interested in cooking again now that there's light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks for joining me.
-
Hi, I would like to have a go as I have just found my old book that came with the first Thermomix model I had. It was that orange one about 4 models ago. there must be something interesting in that.
-
I look forward to your contribution Dot.
I made the mistake of not checking to see if anyone had made this dessert (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=9889.0), I had checked everything else I'd made but slipped up on this one.
-
That looks tasty CP.

It looks delicious Judy 8)

Thanks Cookie.

CC thanks for the recipe and your buns look fantastic.
I have all my older thermomix books out and am going through them. I've made a list and just went to check that they hadn't been made before and most of them had. :-[ at least it has given me lots of ideas for this weeks menu plan.

It was raining this morning so I decided to make the Minestrone Soup from My Way of Cooking. I have posted the review here. http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=16685.0
We enjoyed it and it took the chill off the rain. ( I always feel cold when it rains, even in summer :-\
-
I love soup at any time of the year cookie. Nice to see you're back and joining in the challenge.
-
Your soups look delicious Judy and Cookie. We love soup so great to have other tested recipes to try.
Yep some buns are in the freezer for another day Judy ;)
-
I've just gone through the TOV to find some recipes to make. It has reminded me of several I've made and taste delicious. Like the Caramelised Apple Risotto Pudding, Zucchini Cake and Date and Apple Brownies.
Now to find some new ones.
-
What is TOV please cookie ???
After Denise's reviews from the UK Demonstrator's Delight recipe booklet, I had a browse and decided to use my home grown spinach in a Spinach & Orange Soup (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=16688.0). I misread the quantity and picked 750 g instead of the 250 g required for this recipe so then had to find something else to do with the leftovers.
-
Impressive array of dishes Judy...I tried to reply on another thread but reply button didn't show up, it's been acting weird for me today. Print is even smaller than usual.
-
Sorry Judy, I probably shortened it to much or it is my bad typing. I should have typed ATOV. A Taste of Vegetarian.
-
I made the Crunchy Carrot Salad on page 54 of A Taste of Vegetarian for lunch today. I was pleasantly surprised. It is really nice. Very quick and easy to make too.
Here is the link to my review.

They do look the same but do taste different. ;D
-
It looks a bit like hummus Denise, does it have a much different taste than a chickpea
based dip?
-
Will have to have another look at Taste of Vegetarian - there have been some lovely dishes made from the book.
-

The feta gave it that distinct "feta" flavour so very different to hummus.

Vegetable, Tofu, Frittata from Rainbow Recipes
-
It looks fantastic Mich.
-
It looks good Michele :)
-
It actually turned out ok. I served it up to DH and said it was a veggie frittata. He didn't notice the absence of eggs.
You wouldn't know it was vegan.
-
It looks eggy Michele, glad you managed to fool DH ;D
-
I had an excess of zucchinis so made this Zucchini Cake from A Taste of Vegetarian.
-
Another nice dish from TOV.

Your cake looks lovely Margaret.
