Title: Problems getting bread out of tin
Post by: ~Narelle~ on August 29, 2009, 11:20:59 pm
Hi
not strictly TMX related but I am having problems getting bread out of my bread tin.  I made Ezekiel Bread yesterday and had to scrape it out.  I floured it before hand.  The 5 seed bread before that - I oiled it and it need massive banging from DH to get it out.

Any tips and tricks?

thanks
Narelle

Are they the black bread tins?  You haven't been scrubbing them??

They are black on the outside, silver inside.  No scrubbing.  Only used 3 times.

My tin is black outside and silver inside and I've been spraying with olive oil spray and have had no trouble YET. I let it sit for a couple of minutes and then turn it out.  I left it too long the other day and it started sweating!

I have used the black outside/silver inside ones for years and never had any problem at all!  they are relatively heavy and are proper bread baking tins.
A quick oil is all I do, and it is important to remember to remove the bread immediately as it will sweat and the crust will be soft.
Have you tried a different recipe?  Maybe it is just that one that will stick.

When I make the Bible bread I use my silicon baking "tin". I found mine to be a good investment.

I've got those same black/silver tins - sometimes a quick oil with macadamia or rice bran oil (they come with instructions saying not to use olive oil). Sometimes I need to run a knife down the side to loosen it, but it has always come out. Finding that the 5 Seed Bread tends to stick a little more to the tins.

ILB mine didn't come with instructions. I will stop using olive oil and use rice bran oil. Thank you.

Just a quick question off topic..........Where did you all get your bread tins from?

Meagan, I got mine at Kitchen Warehouse. Carousel didn't have them but Cockburn did. I guess any of the bigger ones would.

I got mine from House cause I was being lazy!

I made Jo's Spelt Challah today and it came out heaps easier - oiled and baking paper on the bottom.

Thanks

I don't have fancy loaf tins but I spray them with oil & then flour them & that seems to work.

I got mine from www.snk.com.au (Simply No Knead) - there are posts somewhere on here discussing it.  Maybe under the 5 seed bread being sticky ?? No one local stocked any decent bread tins and weren't too helpful sourcing them.

We have no problems in South Africa finding bread tins - Woollies and all the big supermarket chains stock them not to mention our fantastic catering shop www.banks-shop.co.za - they even sell Silpats which I bought there last week.
I usually use non-stick bakeware but my favourite is Silicon.
