YOU don't have to eat it !!!!! Just make it up and send it in :-)) :-)) :-)) Ask your mum for some of her old recipes to convert.
It's about time you got into the comp!!!
-
i do have to eat it cause guaranteed no one in my family will! lol
i have been in the comp though, am waiting on the meat cookbook to come out so i can claim my prize!!!
-
That's right !!! - it was the lemon job - so vote for Chelsea (I did) - I have all the books too and am waiting for one for April :-[

I have the "crunchy, munchy honey cakes" song going through my head. I don't suppose that will do. Blasted Wiggles!!!! ;D
-
hehehehehhe
i keep thinking 'honey joys' for some weird reason, not like you'd do them in the thermomix lol
-
I thought of honey joys too Karen. I could just imagine them in the TMX.
-
Thing is I can imagine them in the TMX with the butterfly to stir all the honey through, :-: ^^ :o :o :P :P lol might give it a try and if it fails turn it into slice of some description ;D ;D
-
i took thermomixer's advice and got mum to send through some recipes ;) now i just have to feel well enough to try them lol
-
B H & G drink...will make you feel better and has HONEY in it lol...get well soon Karen :-* :-*
-
i have done one and it's brilliant for the tmx! hope it tastes good lol
-
Tastes good for me - I make 3 times the quantity and just heat it up as I need it. My first lot I cut the ginger slices too thick and it was a bit 'howdy doody' but now I do them thinner it is perfect. Get well soon.
-
Oh yes I love it too and I am living on it at the moment :-)) :-)) I make up a big batch too, and reheat it as needed and walk around the house with it in my thermal mug ;D ;D
-
I hope you all recover soon. This virus seems to be Australia wide. :-* :-*
-
mine is not a virus (good and bad) i have had sinusitis for 3 months and it just isn't budging no matter what natural or medicenal remedies i try :( so i'm not really sick, like a flu, but i am just soooo run down and tired constantly.
-
Karen,
I must have the same as you - doctors and medicine don't seem to fix it - haven't been able to do any demos for six weeks as the coughing just never lets up. Makes you very tired and hopefully when the warmer weather arrives here it will improve.

Karen my mum had the same thing and she got it year after year and the only thing that fixed it in the end a couple of years ago was a low dose of antibiotics for about 3 months. She didn't want to take them for that long but was so desperate in the end she did and it worked. Might be worth asking your doctor about. Get well soon, there is nothing worse than not feeling on top of the world. :-*
-
Karen, I sympathise. :'( :'( I'm just getting over my annual bout of sinusitis. Next it will be hayfever season and then I'll be REALLY grumpy. >:( >:( Hang in there, I hope something works for you soon.
-
oh gosh cookie, how do you live with this year in year out? :o :'(
-
Thank goodness I only seem to get the sinusitis the once and a dose of antibiotics fix it. It makes you tired and the headaches are horrid, so you have all my sympathy.
I'm dreading spring and all the flowers, I've started on my rhinocort already and the telfast and polaramine are ready to go. I sort of walk round like a drugged up zombie for a while until the poor old body gets used to the drugs and develops enough antihistamines of its own. Too make it worse I love flowers in the house.
-
oh that's good. i am about to start my 5th course of antibiotics tomorrow (second type and i have a spare script for a third type as a backup). i'm also doing saline flushes, fess spray, dimetapp / rhinocort sprays and the chiro has been doing sinus draining massage for me. sooooooooooo over it.
now, back ON topic LOL i need a volunteer to make the recipe i'm planning on sending in - I made it yesterday but they came out quite dry and i'm not sure if it's my stupid oven or the recipe. it's a very simple recipe for a spiced honey cake. any volunteers? (preferably someone with a decent oven that cooks at the temp it's supposed to LOL)

I get hay fever and can sympathise with you both. I will never forget being pregnant through an entire hay season and not being able to take anything (naturals meds were useless for me). I was forever pulling over in the car and have to wait until it settled before continuing on. I have my medicine cupboard stocked ready for the coming season (and no more babies on the way ;D ;D ;D)!!! :)
-
Can you be sure of that Chelsea - look what happened to Molly ??? ??? ??? ???
-
lol! you stirrer JD!! ;)
at least i know *I* can be sure of it ;) (lacking certain body parts required ;))
-
Sorry, couldn't help myself ;) ;) ;)
-
Don't you jinx me JD!!! I went into a cold sweat when I read that Karen and Kathryn had both had surprises. Actually I would dearly love to adopt again from Ethiopia, but the current seven year wait is just too long. My sister is due to have a baby in a couple of weeks so that is enough for me!!! ;D ;D ;D
-
7 years to adopt ??? That's a long time to wait. You have your 2 little boys though Chelsea and I'm sure they keep you on your toes. ;) ;)
-
Yes - I am very blessed. They are sharing a big plate of watermelon at the moment. I think I will have to take them outside and hose them down when they are finished. ;D
-
3 is the new 2 you know :P ;D
-
Hi Karen,
I can try your recipe for you - I can't enter the competition anyway - do you want to mail me off post?
Shayla in Cape Town
-
sure shayla, thank you :) i also have another volunteer, so i think that's plenty ;) i will send it through tonight!
-
i'm so sorry, i totally forgot about this recipe (have been feeling so miserable this week and i think my brain has left the building lol) will try to get it to you both over the weekend if that's ok :)
-
Fine Karen. The cookie/cake barrel is empty again. Then when you win we can vote for you because we have made it. :-*
-
i accidentally put too many cloves in mine last weekend (had to grind my own) and they were only jsut edible - so we just crumbed them and mixed with cream cheese, rolled into balls and drizzled white choc over the top and voila, everyone loves them!
-
A new recipe. :D
-
i Karen,
i have been away for the weekend but can try your recipe tomorrow if you mail it today.
Shayla
-
sorry we've been flat out with my dd's birthdy and fathers day yesterday! got to go and ice her cakes now but will hopefully get it done after that!
-
:D :D :D
-
hopefully you both got the pm? :-*
-
Sure did, it's on the list to make this afternoon before anyone gets home so that I can try it first!
-
hehe, i'm hoping it's a good recipe but my try of it wasn't all that successful lol (i made mine in friand size portions too which i think didn't help)
-
Congratulations to Quirky Jo and judydawn - they are in head to head battle at Thermomix Kitchen Stadium
http://thermorecipes.blogspot.com/2009/09/mouthful-of-honey.html (http://thermorecipes.blogspot.com/2009/09/mouthful-of-honey.html)
may the best recipe win !!
-
congrats girls - good luck to both of you!!!!
-
Well, well, well, what a surprise. Nice to get to the final 2 - good luck to you too Jo. I was only thinking about it the other day and wishing they'd hurry up and announce the final 2 so that I could then go ahead and put my curry on the forum. They did it for me :o :o :o :o
-
Well done Judy and Jo. That snuck up on me. I checked the site around midday and it was still the soup.
Fantastic news. Now we get to do the 'cook off' and vote.
-
When done Jo and Judy. I actually made Jo's cake today and didn't even realise it was chosen in the finals! I will put JD's curry on my menu plan for next week. DH had just been diagnosed with a tummy ulcer and curry is on his no-no list, so I will have to make it super-mild :'(.
;D ;D ;D
-
Hope the ulcer settles soon - lots of antibiotics and antacids
-
and lot's of moaning to his DW . . . . . . ;)
-
Your poor DH. :'( Treatment is certainly better now a days than it was 10 years ago.

Have you seen the Man Flu sketch? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXLHWmjA5IE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXLHWmjA5IE)
-
;D ;D ;D I would have donged him over the head with the bell :P :P :P
Thought I had better clarify that - the guy in the video, not your DH Chelsea ;)
-
You are very welcome to come and dong my DH over the head with the bell while you are at it though JD. Just joking - kind of. ;D
-
Congratulations Jo - your cake was the winner in the monthly mouthful competition. Well done to a worthy winner.
-
Regardless you are both winners :-* :-*
-
Congratulations to both of you for being chosen initially and of course a special congratulations to Jo. Both lovely recipes.
Judy how did you find out? Have you got a secret line to HQ? I just had a look at their site and it didn't say anything.
-
Those who have a blogger address received an email about the comments from Tenina https://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=146273928826751996&postID=6208591399855409538 (https://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=146273928826751996&postID=6208591399855409538)
Congratulations both - I liked them both. :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
Thank you.

No Cookie1, I just clicked on the link that Thermomixer posted on 21/0/09 in this thread. I wish they would make it easier for us to follow, like posting it directly onto our forum for example instead of us having to search to find it. Now I think the recipes should be put onto the forum as not many people are going to find them where they are. Normally Thermomixer tells us but I remembered they were going to be a bit late announcing the winner this month, went looking and was surprised to find it had just been posted that morning. Anyone know what the next comp is all about?
-
i don't think i got an email and i had commented hadn't i?
-
Hi everyone - thanks for the nice comments on my recipe - I only just read this thread, as I've been moving house, then came down sick with the flu - hooray for us JD! That's pretty exciting to win the competition - a nice surprise. Okay, I'm going back to bed now! Back when I feel better. :-\
-
Get good soon :-* :-* :-*
-

Maybe you didn't tick the "Be Notified of Replies" box?
-
Ooh, I didn't, so that explains it to me. Thanks.
-
realised that when i got there ;)
