Just found these (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Silicone-Fibreglass-Bakeware-Silpat-Baking-Mat-Liner-Tray-Oven-Thermomix-TM31-/181075138505#ad-image-mo_gallery_img_0) on eBay. TM Essentials is the brand. If you go to the shop, there's also a 'Thermo Server'.
-
I was given a voucher to spend at this company and haven't been able to redeem it. Grr. I must admit I haven't emailed them about it yet.
-
Is it the same TM Essentials that has posted recipes on our forum? Cookie maybe you could pm them and find out?
-
Yes it is Julie.
-
Thanks Judy. :)
-
Are these the same as the silpat (is that the correct spelling?) mats that Thermomix sell?
-
I have bought lots of these silpat mats (12x18 inch) from eBay
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/12-x18-Pastry-Dough-Rolling-Cut-Mat-Bakeware-Silpat-Baking-Tray-Oven-Liner-LD190-/271249816865?pt=AU_Cookware_Bakeware&var&hash=item3f27bfbd21&_uhb=1
I also use them to line my boot when transporting cupcake trays or candles...they don't slide off the mat.
-
Those ones are very well priced, Maddy, although they are quite a bit smaller than the ones MJ referred to, which would be why there is such a difference in price.
Thank you both for the links.
-
Thanks girls. :-*

Will let you know what it's like when it arrives.
-
It's lovely and thick and the right size for the tray I have. I haven't used it in the oven yet, but will do soon and report back.
-
Mine from TM Essentials arrived last week. Haven't had a chance to use it yet but looking forward to working with it.
-
I tried several times to use my voucher and no luck. I eventually got around to emailing Debbie. She was amazing. My voucher had expired and I was willing to accept that as it was over 6 months. However she renewed it, then when I still couldn't get it to work she put my order through manually. The goodies will probably arrive while I am in Tassie but I am VERY impressed with the service TM Essentials has given me. Their range isn't brilliant as yet but so far I would recommend them without hesitation.
I'll let you know about the products when they arrive.
-
That's great to hear, Cookie.
I've used my mat when baking biscuits and it was excellent. I'll probably get a couple more.
-
Are these mats to line baking trays in place of baking paper?
-
I bought a load of these mats in the US a couple of years ago, much cheaper than the TM price. They are brilliant for eveything and can even be used on the barbecue.
-
Ooh I'm living in the US at the moment. Did you find them online or at a major retailer Amanda? I might try seeking them out. I would love to buy them and stop buying and using baking paper.
-
Sorry, can't help you MEP. Just adding that I bought black silicone liners that I use on the WeberQ. They're brilliant, no mess and no drips and you still get the grill marks through onto the meat. Thanks Megan jane. I will have to look out for it. But you can use these liners in place of baking paper?

I bought my silicon mats at Sur La Table, MEP - and could have bought a ton more of other stuff. That shop is brilliant!
-
Thanks Amanda. I will Google it now to see if there's a store near me or online.
-
Thanks Megan jane. I will have to look out for it. But you can use these liners in place of baking paper?
Yes, you can. Just cut the larger sheets to size.

If you cut the bigger mats is there any issue with silicone fibres? Those fibres are very tiny.
-
I have the black BBQ one that MJ has and I'm pretty sure you can cut them. The Silmats have fibreglass fibres and you can't cut them.
-
I've just ordered some from Amazon. Because of the fibre glass, apparently you can't cut them. It was also recommended not to cut things on them either otherwise it would render the mats useless.
-
Can I ask for a little reassurance .. can you really safely use the silmats on the BBQ, in the oven, etc? Up to what temperature? I have concerns about the possibility of chemical 'seepage' from the mat to the food and hence to us.
-
Marina I don't have a silmat, but I believe the temperature you can go to is 200. I use silicone cake tins and a bread basket, I also, have those black silicone sheets for the BBQ , it makes cleaning up so easy, but as to chemical leakage, no one will probably tell you that, IF there is they wouldn't sell many, if we knew.
-
The silicone mats in the US can accommodate a temperature range of -40 to +480 F (or up to 250 degrees Celsius) so I expect the Australian ones would be similar. They have special BBQ ones that might tolerate a higher temperature I think.

FYI to anyone who is interested, I bought a Thermo mat from TM essentials. It is very good quality, same thickness as the Thermomix mat. The TM essentials mat is slightly bigger than the Thermomix mat. I've bought silicone mats from ebay before, and while they were good, they were not as good as the TM essentials or Thermomix mats. Here's a pic- sorry it will be huge, I'm using tapatalk.(http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/10/20/f75b84fed8e207f2120639e6c71a3e81.jpg)(http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/10/20/3e6a64d6475cb9fef96d548bef95d91e.jpg)

That's the one I got as well.
-
My order is on its way.
-
I use a lot of silicon mats/ sheets. I cut the thin ones to size. Have one in the base of Bread machine, one cut to fit mini crock pot, 3 cut to line the Bagette tins. Bought a thick one in Paris which was told would go in oven but haven't done this. Was told that the commercial bakers use them. HOWEVER, made some cake release from recipe here using coconut oil. Fabulous. Thank you for the recipe whoever posted it.
-
Uni posted it but cookie gave it it's own thread here Chookie - http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=7350.0

Thanks Judy. Trying it in a tin in the AR with great rolls.
