I want to make rice cakes as a portable food source for long bike rides. It needs to be sticky like a rice cooker makes it. Has anyone cooked rice like this in a TM?
-
DD, risotto rise might be the answer. Cook risotto with less water. Only cook it for 10 minutes and let it absorb the rest of the water and finish cooking. Just an idea.
Good to hear from you. ;D

Like chookies idea Den but is there much nutrition in them for long bike rides? How about oat cakes?

Lovely to hear from you DD.
-
Thanks for the ideas.
Gert the rice is just a base, you add other ingredients like diced ham, eggs, fruit etc. I recently picked up a book called feed zone portables.
-
You could use glutinous rice and steam it in parcels (same way it's done in Asia)
-
DD found this on the UK Thermomix Facebook page ;D

Thanks CC. This is a great recipe it works really well.
I added sultanas,it worked well. Very useful for training and walks.
It tastes good also.
Thanks

CC, you are a little gem posting that recipe for our members :-* :-* :-*

I have a friend who eats rice cakes by the carton. I will try these for him.
-
Thanks CC! ;D I'm not sure what pudding rice is, I'm guessing it is like aborio?
-
Short grain rice, I expect it's the same as glutinous or risotto
-
Bonsai is right DD it a short grain rice. It's sold here in packets labeled "Pudding Rice" which people use to make rice pudding :)
-
I used the Arborio rice which is short grain rice used for risotto and puddings as it has high starch levels.
-
In my book they are using calrose rice for making rice cakes. I will try both calrose and aborio.
-
I think any short grain rice would do.
-
I made the recipe that CC posted using calrose rice. It worked well and they are pretty tasty. Now that I have a bit of an idea how to do this I will try some variations. :)
Thanks everyone for your suggestions and advice.
