We have a lovely, new, exciting challenge for you. This message will not self destruct after you read it, so don't worry.(for those who have ever seen Mission Impossible) ;D ;D
For the next couple of weeks we would love you to select a recipe from the forum, or a book if you wish, that has not been reviewed.
Goldfish has been bumping lots of older recipes for us so that may help. (Thank you GF).
If you have trouble posting photos you may like to send them to a moderator who will post them for you. We'd love to see photos of your creations. You don't need to be a Masterchef at "plating up. ". I'm certainly not. I tend to chuck it onto the plate. ;)
We can't wait to see what you wonderful folks come up with. Go check the dungeons for recipes NOW. But most of all have fun. :D :D ;D ;D
-
Thanks Cookie.This is a great challenge :-*
-
Away we go again lovelies. Thanks for joining in the fun of the previous challenges. Perhaps some who have not joined in before may like to join the rest of us this time.
-
Yep, I'm in. I post photos from work, its faster.
-
I've got a recipe to post that I am half way through typing up, I meant to post it yesterday but ran out of time. It's from an old WW cookbook, will post later today.
-
Goody, I will look forward to it. I love WW recipes.
-
On to it ;D
-
I'm in too....any tips on finding these recipes. Im not a good treasure hunter.
-
Go to the early pages Kimmy and just browse back from there.
-
Thanks Judy.
-
I'm in too.
-
Or you could go to the individual sections (e.g. Main Dishes) then at the top of the rows click on "replies" so they are sorted from least to most. Just because a post has 10 replies, doesn't mean it has been reviewed though, many times members make comments such as "I will try that" etc, but not necessarily reviews :)
I hope that makes sense!
-
Yes thanks jam.
-
Lordy this will be a challenge alright. You may have to give us time!
Gert
-
I dug up this little gem of a recipe and had all the basic ingredients on hand so made them.Couldn't coat them in chocolate though, none in the cupboard, anywhere :-))
Digestive Biscuits. (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=11815.0)
-
They look nice. I spent a bit of time looking through a couple of sections of the forum today and I've selected about 12 recipes that I'd like to try. That was from 2 sections and not all the pages in either section.
As Jamberie said lots of recipes haven't actually been reviewed. Now I need to decide what to make and find the time. I have a fair bit of car club stuff to do this week, but I will get at least one done. I don't like to be deprived of my cooking time. :)
-
I made one of Thermomixer's early recipes for lunch - the Cream of Cucumber soup with prawns (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=169.0). It's also in FSA on page 50.
-
I'm in. Like a challange.
-
I have found two to make this wek.
Gert
-
What constitutes a review? Is a review when someone uses the basic recipe but substitutes some of the ingredients? Or is a review only relevant if made to the original recipe. ?
-
Such a cool challenge, Cookie 👍👍
Will try to find something too 😄
-
If you make an existing recipe, stray from the method or ingredients to improve it or to improvise using what you have on hand Chookie, that's a review. You will find with some of our early postings that some tweaking is probably necessary as we have learned so much over the years and many of these recipes can be improved.
-
Thanks Judy. Think I have identified about 5 that I will try. Not for a few days though.
-
Thought I'd try Paul's Sweet Lamb Pie (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=1021.msg364295#msg364295) as my next challenge recipe.
A very early recipe so I did do my own thing with it ;) It was delicious.
-
What a great challenge to look for new recipes that haven't been reviewed. I thought I had copied out every recipe there was and put them in my folders until this challenge and now I find there are lots more to try. I have just reviewed Chelseas Chocolate Chip cookies. Yum.
-
I am laughing as Judy has selected a recipe I had put on my list. I will still try to get these made an review too. I have a busy week and I didn't even get near my thermomix today. Very sad. Even DH made dinner today.
-
Sorry Cookie, both were worth doing so it would be nice if someone else tried them as well.
-
It is funny. I went back to the beginning of main meals and started from there. I can easily make one or more of my other selections. ;D ;D ;D :D
Jolly auto correct. :D :D

Today I made JulieO's Irish Brown Yeast Bread. I made it exactly as JulieO said. It only has one rise and is very easy to make. It uses plain flour which was surprising. It surprised me as the sides and ends were very shiny when I took it out of the tin. Unusually so. I used a tin slightly larger than JulieO suggested. The dough is very wet but that caused no problems.
I have just been bad and snuck a slice. The crumb seems different but this could be due to the plain flour or the very moist dough, I don't know. The flavour is lovely and I will definitely be making this many more times. The recipe has a tiny bit of treacle in it, next time I might try molasses, but I think it is only to darken the loaf.
(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/22/pugenequ.jpg). The very shiny sides of the loaf.
(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/22/e6a9eda9.jpg). The cut bread.
-
Today I made ES's passionfruit yoghurt icecream. It's delicious http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=12736.0
-
Just made tonydav's Cheat's Minestrone (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3998.0).
-
The soda bread looks great- I'd like some with Judy's soup. :)
Kimmy, I'm glad you enjoyed the icecream- it's one of my favourites.
-
What an odd bread . Must make it
-
Give me strength cookie . What is the link to JulieO's bread?
-
Here you go Gert Irish Brown Yeast Bread (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=15509.0) ;)
-
I bought some treacle and whole wheat flour so will try the bread.
-
Well interesting. I felt sorry for this poor recipe because no one reviews it.
http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=14703.0
Aggies Heatwave Meatballs.
Don't know, how Maggie came to name this dish . Must have been a hot day as there is no heat in these here meat balls.
I thought the recipe was odd with the cloves but gave it a go.
Turned out pretty bland but I think kids would love it.
The sauce was very nice and it is a useful little sauce indeed
(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/23/zabuhury.jpg)
Gert
Tomorrow's recipe will be more to my palate.
-
I made Farfallina's Pumpkin & Zucchini Soup (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=14695.0) yesterday. It's a slightyly thinner soup than the usual pumpkin soup and the taste is different, probably due to the zucchini. Next time I might put a little nutmeg in it as well. We liked it and I will make it again.
I'm still trying to learn how to insert a hyperlink. Hope it works :)
-
Oh well that didn't work. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I will keep working on it. :)
-
I've fixed it for you Margaret ;)
Girls can you also go over to the recipe site and post a review there as well please as the reviews will eventually get lost in this thread.
-
Thanks Judy :)
-
Sorry Gert, I completely forgot. The brain has been embroiled in figures for 2 days, not letters. Back to it this afternoon and hopefully the last.
-
I had no intention of cooking anything for a few days as I have plenty of leftovers from previous meals but I popped into Mum's and found she had bought herself a 200g carton of sliced mushrooms. She didn't know why, said they just looked nice so I offered to cook something with them for her.
I found this recipe (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=13488.0) of Cookie's and used the sauce and pasta component - I hope Mum likes it. Tasted good to me.
-
That looks nice Judy.
I made one of your recipes for dinner tonight - thick carrot and tomato soup http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=7612.0 (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=7612.0)
And served it with quick n easy bread http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=10192.0 (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=10192.0). The bread had a bottle of beer instead of yeast and didn't need proving.
It was a quick and tasty meal perfect for a cold winters evening.
-
The bread looks lovely and fluffy ES. The soup looks tasty too.
Even though it has lots of reviews I made Swiss Beef tonight. It is really tasty and maybe needs a bump up for those that haven't tried it. It is one of Chelsea's recipes. http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=1713.0
I always put carrot and peas or spinach in it too.
-
Yes Es that meal is a winner.
Cookie I am not even going to look at Swiss Beef. My mother used to make it ALL the time and served it with Vomit worthy Lima Beans.
I though I had erased that memory until NOW ;D
Gert
-
That looks fabulous ES!
Wow! Fantastic challenge Cookie. There are some very accomplished treasure hunters digging up a lot of hidden gems. Love it.
-
Had to make the Irish Yeast Bread.
I nearly dropped it as I was putting it in the oven and that I think is why if fell in the middle. I Did get the shine on it but of course not on the bottom as I had to put baking paper in my bread tin bottom as this tin has small holes in it and it is a very wet dough.
After rising 40 minutes

48 minutes cooked.
-
Is that a forum recipe Hally or one from our TMX books?
-
Its based on a recipe from a non tm book of mine.
-
This is really really good.
-
I think you have misunderstood the challenge Hally, by all means please do continue to post photos and new recipes but for the challenge we have asked that you dig up old recipes which have never been tried and therefore never been reviewed. There are some gems out there waiting for someone to give them a chance ;D I'll move your photo to What's for dinner.
-
looks great Gert, I am just waiting for a new flat bread recipe to rise so I can then cook it in the oven. :)
-
Yes judy I did misunderstand it. I thught it read old recipes an recipes from books, so thiught you needed reviews on food cooked in TM.
-
Thanks Hally, glad it's sorted now.
-

-
Gert your bread looks absolutely delicious and also love your presentation on the wooden board.
-
Gert I love your bread, but I love the Gorgonzola flan more. Now I want to make it too. Thanks.
-
I wan't sure if it was a flan or a soufflé. It was delish but the bread outstanding. Glad you revived that one.
Gert
-
I am so loving this challenge and the little gems which are being found to make and review. Gert, this recipe was the perfect one for you wasn't it? Love your presentation too.
-
I keep looking for little orphans. It is fun. Don't know how you are going to top this challenge
Gert
-
Perhaps we should let this particular subject choice run a little longer, what do you all think?
-
I made Megan Jane's Pasties (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=6362.0) today and they are delicious. This is all that is left of the 16 I made. The GC came in after school and decided to have a couple and then took some home for their dinner. :D
-
I love those pasties too Margaret. They look just fabulous.

I love your presentation board Gert.DH bought some Olive Wood recently I think I might ask him to make a board like yours ;D
-
CC I have a few wooden crapola boards and a couple of wonderful chopping board made by DH's years ago one of Mahogany which I treasure.it is very heavy and very large. I love it to bits a and fear one day I may not be able to lift it. Every once in a while he sand and oils it but alas he is almost getting beyond this.
The cheapos are just that but handy. If DH was up to making me some more I would want a couple of random shapes with handles. Maybe Mango wood.
When we had a boat I had solid Teak plates which I loved . I never had any plastic on my boat including glasses as at the time it was an old timber cruise built in 1945 And deserved the best. It is still going strong on the Gipsland Lakes. I miss it but not the maintenance.
Gert
-
Perhaps we should let this particular subject choice run a little longer, what do you all think?
I'd love too Judy as I have been busy this week. I will go with what others want though.
-
One Pot Meal with carrots & potatoes (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=1437.0).
I had this on toast for lunch, it was really nice - a change from a bowl of soup.

Uh oh, guess who forgot to take the photo? :-))
-
Gert, I have a mango wood coffee table. I LOVE IT.. :)
-
Feeling frustrated, I have marked several recipes to make, but will be away all weekend. Made the Florentines as needed to take them with us.
-
I wasn't at work today, so finally had time to make some recipes for the challenge.

-
You were on a roll Katie ;D Great cooking for the challenge and I hadn't seen Baked Pork Chops recipe before .
-
Imagine if you didn't go to work at all Katie ;) I've been hanging out all week to see what your choices would be for the challenge and you didn't disappoint.
-
Work certainly gets in the way of my cooking!
I have a couple more recipes I've chosen, hope to find the time to make them.
-
Wow, Katie! A day at home from work and you spend it cooking. Sounds like what I'd do, too..... :D
I've been too busy to cook much this week and am away for the weekend, sans Thermie, unfortunately. So, not much cooking from the forum.
Yesterday I made my Dinner Rolls, et al, (must put it on here) and rolled into scrolls with grated parmesan and herbs. Delish!
I still have a couple of old recipes from here that I want to try, perhaps next week. Meanwhile, enjoying everyone else's contributions.
-
Made Potato Pancakes (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=1946.msg364990#msg364990) for the challenge today.
-
I've made CP's Sweet biscuits. They have received the big tick of approval from the mob. The only thing I did was to reduce the sugar by 50g. http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=2208.0
(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/26/ahyquze9.jpg)
-
Good find Cookie, they look very nice.
-
I am loving this challenge.
Gert
-
Me too Gert.
We had a recipe of Farfallina's tonight. It is Pasta Sauce with Sun Dried Tomatoes. . It is really tasty. I couldn't find quite enough parsley in the garden but felt what I had was adequate. This will become a favourite in this house.
http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=4924.0
It is a pasta sauce with lots of flavour.
-
Ah Farfallina. I love her recipes.
Gert
-
That is the reason I chose it Gert. I couldn't believe that no one had tried it before.
-
We tried the Greek stuffed zucchinis tonight by Desi. They were yum and big enough to eat as a meal. Served it as a side. (http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/26/yde2egyv.jpg)
-
Nice find girls, it's great having photos now too on some recipes that haven't have them before.
-
This challenge is great. I can't believe how many recipes have been posted and not made by someone else (or at least not commented on if they have been made)
I will be making the stuffed zucchini next summer when I have large ones growing.
We got home today from a very foggy game of lacrosse and didn't have enough time to bake some bread, so I made Kimmy's scone pinwheels for lunch http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=11542.0;topicseen (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=11542.0;topicseen)
The kids (me too) loved them and I even have some in the freezer now for lunchboxes.
I had some lemon juice in the fridge so I made Cookies lemon layer squares whilst the oven was still hot http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=7381.0 (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=7381.0)
They are very similar to a slice that I've been making for years that has always been a favourite. Yum.

-
I'm very impressed with everyone who is partaking in this challenge - great going girls. Anyone else want to join us?
-
I agree Judy the forum members have certainly cooked some fabulous food from the archives. ;D
-
Had a bit of fun tonight making Judy's Choc Cake in a Mug (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=947.0). :D :D Shared it between the three of us. ;D
-
Made KerrynN's Quinoa Porridge (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=6122.0) for brekky this morning.
-
Made Judy's asparagus, pancetta and rocket linguine for dinner with pasta from scratch. (http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/27/u7anezam.jpg)
-
It looks lovely.
-
I made these simple, untried recipes today.
Chookie's walnut sauce (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3091.0) - mixed it with pasta, added some parmesan and parsley.
The Spanish recipe Julia Balbilla translated into English for us, Crema Inglesa (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=8303.0) but it refused to set.
I also have this Apple Leather (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=13831.0) in the oven, found it early afternoon which means I'll be sitting up until almost 1 am waiting for it to dehydrate in the oven tonight :-))
-
Judy how about putting the apple leather I the Airfryer .
Gert
-
It won't fit Gert, the slab is twice the size of the a/f. Here it is after 5 hours.
-
It won't fit Gert, the slab is twice the size of the a/f. Here it is after 5 hours.
OMG what are you gunna do with it?
-
If it works, eat it but also share it with Mum, she loves anything apple. :D It's just pure apple, no added sugar so it has to be healthy doesn't it ;)
-
My goodness that's big. :D :D
-
It won't be so big when it's cut into straps Denise ;)
Finished, very tasty but thinner than I thought they'd be.

I made the Hokkaido Milk Bread today. http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=296.0
The method I used is quite different to the one given in the recipe, but I have written in it in the thread. I've only just taken it from the oven so I won't cut it until the morning. Hopefully it will be nice.

Judy do you ever stop????
OMG Cookie.
Gert
-
I'm on a bit of a roll Gert, may as well go with the flow until I run out of steam.
-
True Judy. I am thinking cookie must make a loaf of bread a day. She may run out of steam too.
Gert
-
Really enjoying what members have found and cooked. I am going to start today.
-
It will be loving to have you on board Chookie. I've already started on today's recipes.
-
BWAAAAAAAA!
I won,t be cooking for a week. Going down to Sydney tomorrow morning to visit with my friend who broke her leg and should have been spending the week in Cairns? Not looking forward to the cold. Not looking forward to the cold. Did I say. I was not looking forward to the COLD!
It is 26 here and the sun is out.
Gert
-
Is that Sue Gert? Give her my best wishes if it is. What a dear friend you are to hop on a plane and go down to help your friend.
-
Irish Brown Yeast Bread (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=15509.msg365362#msg365362) although this recipe is not now without a review since Cookie made it ;) ;)
-
Actually I am not looking forward to visiting Sydney at all. It will be my first time back in my old neighbourhood in 12 years. I feel like a country bumpkin. It will probably take me longer to get to Avalon on public transport than to fly from Cairns to Sydney. I am taking some treacle and yeast to make the Irish Brown Yeast Bread. Hope she has some wholemeal flour. What will I do without my TMX?
gert
-
Gert . . . arrange a demo with a friendly consultant ;) Get to make whatever you want for your stay . . . just an idea ;)
-
OMG that would be a hoot.
What is the weather like GF?
Gert
-
According to one forecast . .Tuesday 10C - 21C; Wednesday 11C - 22C; Thursday 12C - 23C; Friday 6C - 15C; Saturday 7C - 14C
It was supposed to be bright and sunny today . . but not. It might brighten up a little later. This is going to be one of those weeks where you think those lovely warm days are going to last . . . only to be whipped off your feet with an Arctic blast of freezing winds. . . . :(
I have some jasmine in the garden that thought it might be spring and has started to blossom. It'll have a rude awakening come the weekend . :o >:(
-
Thanks Gf. Taking my new coat then. Found some socks. I won't be going out anywhere as I will be helping Sue. Yes Judy I will say hi.
The train and bus trip will be scary enough for me with all them people!
Jasmine are pretty hardy I hope!
Gert
-
You're such a wonderful friend, Gert! I'm sure you'll have loads of fun, bringing sunshine to your poor friend xx
-
Put on your happy face Gert and the cold may not get to you.
I make about 3 loaves of bread a week. I love yeast cookery.
The Hokkaido milk bread is oh so very nice. Even DH commented that it wasn't bad! Next time I make it I will put milk instead of cream though. I just happened to have some cream this time.
Sorry it looks a bit green. It was taken this morning in a rush before I went out. It is very yellow though. A lovely bread and I will make it again.
-
Your loaves always seems to have such a beautiful, fine crumb Cookie.
-
Very nice, Cookie 👍👍
-
A great loaf do bread cookie 8)
Gert you are a true friend.Keep warm :-* Maybe a "wee dram" to help fight the cold air ;)
-
Interesting bread cookie.
More than a wee dram is expected.
Up,at 0330 so bed early for me.
Gert
-
Thank you. :-*
-
Made Judy's Moroccan Sausages (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=6726.0) for dinner tonight.
I lightly fried my sausages on the stove rather than steam them and left out the chick peas as DH doesn't like them. Then continued with the recipe and added the sausages at the end. A very nice meal suitable for this cold weather.
-
I fixed the link for you Margaret ;) Thanks for trying the recipe.
-
Thanks for that Judy. I just don't seem to be able to work out these links no matter how much I try.
-
Not wanting to miss out on the fun, I made the Irish brown yeast bread too. Very easy. Very moorish.

Made 4 cooks Korma Paste. Let me just say that I will not make this again. I will continue to make my Chicken Korma recipe. This was for the Challenge.
-

Oh blast Chookie that must have been disappointing.. :P
-
Bummer chookie.
-
A waste of good ingredients. Perhaps others have made it and didn't want to comment?
-
Very disappointing.
-
The one good thing Chookie is that it is rare to see a comment like that. I guess that's what we all love about this forum. Usually reliable recipes.
-
That was disappointing Chookie.
I was given two large pumpkins at the weekend so thought I would give Uni's recipe for Tony's Pumpkin Jam (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=14528.0) a try.
I made it exactly as the recipe said. The texture is a little grainier than fruit jam but it's lovely and thick and doesn't taste at all like pumpkin. I used ordinary Queensland Blue pumpkin. This would be good in jam tarts etc
-
So pretty, Mab 😃
-
Chookie's Asian Dipping Sauce (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3057.0)
-
Wonderful presentation Margaret 8)
-
Interesting mab. I've never had Pumpkin Jam. I seem to be the only one round here that has much jam sadly. I still manage to get through it though.

I made another loaf of the Irish wholemeal bread, and needed a quick dessert whilst the oven was still hot, before visitors arrived. CC's brownies were the perfect solution http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=11591.0 (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=11591.0)

We had farfallina's Chicken and Vegetable Patties last night. http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=6523.0
We enjoyed them but did have them with Chilli Relish. I felt they needed something. They would be great for hiding extra vegetables in.
A cheese sauce would be lovely with them too.

I got home from work today to discover only a crust of bread left, so needed to make some bread in a hurry. This recipe had no proving time at all, so I gave it a try. I haven't cut it yet, but it looks pretty good http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=259.0 (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=259.0)
I don't have any nut free biscuits suitable for school lunchboxes, so I made these whilst the oven was still hot from the bread http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3612.0 (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3612.0) I like oat biscuits, so these are perfect!

I made farfallina's walnut bread last night http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=4091.0;prev_next=prev (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=4091.0;prev_next=prev)
I've been finding that bread has been taking a long time to prove at the moment as it's been so cold. I mixed up the dough and left it to prove while I visited my parents. That took longer than I expected, and I was gone for about 2 hours. When I got back, the dough was pushing the mc out of the lid so I divided it in three, plaited it and left it to rise again. I then popped down to the neighbours for a drink and ended up staying for dinner....I think it was at least 2 hours before I got it in the oven. Despite my neglect, it turned out really well.

Tonight I made Judy's creamy leeks http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=14005.0 (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=14005.0) to accompany pan fried salmon and veggies. It was really, really nice and there is none left. Thanks Judy!

Wish I could upload photos to share, but no matter how I try I just can't get it to work.
Anyway, today I made Thermomixer's Spinach and Chickpeas, Seville Style (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=87.0). I have posted my changes on the thread. It was very tasty, but I am not sure what kind of meal to serve it with. I think you could easily add chilli and it could become an Indian dish, but is very nice by itself (by the way, mine didn't look anything like the one illustrated on Thermomixer's thread!)
I also made riv_mum's Green beans with macadamias and garlic (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=580.0). I made it much as per the recipe, it needed quite a bit of pepper and, as macadamias are so oily, I would suggest a bit less butter. I also think it would be best to simply use chopped macadamias instead of doing them in the TMX. One again, needs a good tsp of salt, but will make a very tasty side dish on a dinner table.

Thanks for your contributions Marina, they both look nice recipes for sides. Any of your employees able to show you how to upload pictures?

Found Katya's untried Smoked Fish and Spinach Risotto (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=8563.0) so made it for my tea tonight. I enjoyed it thanks Katya.
