Name of Recipe: Roasted brussel sprouts with Dijon & garlic (using the TMX and adapted for the air fryer from this (http://www.sevenpillarshouse.org/article/gould_farm_cookbook_recipes/) site)
Number of People: Serves 3 as a side but can be adapted for as many serves as you want
Ingredients:
200g brussel sprouts (trimmed weight) - I used small ones left whole, larger ones may have to be cut in half.
700g boiling water
1.5 tblspns olive oil
S & P to taste
1 tsp fresh rosemary leaves
1/4 tsp garlic paste or 1 large clove confit of garlic or just an ordinary clove of garlic, crushed
2 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tsp maple syrup
Preparation:
Place the trimmed brussel sprouts into the steaming basket then into the TM bowl. Pour in the boiling water and steam 6 mins/varoma temp/speed 3
Remove from basket, place into a metal dish which will fit into the air fryer and toss with the oil, S & P and rosemary. I used the small metal dish which was made for the Viva model.
Cook in a preheated 200oC air fryer for 3 mins. Add the garlic, mustard and maple syrup, stir to coat and continue cooking at 200oC for 6-8 minutes depending on the size of your sprouts.
Deniser: Yum! Home alone tonight so finally got to try these. Fruit market had a large bag for $2-99 which makes it even better. I made the full recipe and had half with my dinner and think I might just have the other half for dessert. I had a couple of tablespoon of flaked almonds which needed using up so threw them on top when I added the Dijon etc. Will certainly be making these again
Katiej:I hate Brussels sprouts, they are vile. Most probably the work of the devil!
My DH on the other hand loves them. I bought a big bag of them and we had the for dinner tonight. I cooked them in my Tefal Actifry, as I don't have a Phillips airfryer.
DH thought they were great and really enjoyed them. I ate them, but it hasn't converted me to them.
Cuilidh: I made this last week and forgot to post about them.
I had been to market a bought a 'stick' of sprouts ... they were very fresh. By the time I had snapped them off the stick I had about 250 gm - actually a bit more than that, I think. Anyway, I cooked them up but stupidly used the given quantities for the sauce so there wasn't as much of that as I would have hoped, I should have made a larger quantity.
Unfortunately the dish I cooked them in was too high sided so they didn't get crunchy either, which was a shame. But, having said all of that, I thought they were very tasty and I will definitely make them again, but will adjust sauce quantity if necessary and roast them in a shallower dish (all my shallow dishes were being used for other things at that time so I had no choice ... bad planning on my part!).

Sound lovely Judy, will add it to my list
-
You won't be sorry Denise, they are so good ;D
-
On my to do list this week. Thanks JD!
-
Thanks Judy. I love the sound of these. The Brussels sprouts will be getting nicer now the cold has arrived.
-
This looks lovely, Judy. Do you have the non-AF roasting times ... or do you just shove it all into the oven and wait?
-
Love brusel sprouts :)
-
Thanks Judy, will try these in my turbo oven. ;D
-
Click on the link in the recipe Marina, it's the 3rd recipe down. I've ordered the book through Amazon.
-
Thanks Judy, I bought some lovely sprouts in the market this morning - I am torn as to which recipe I will use them in. You posted another B.Sprout recipe a year or so ago and that one was gorgeous as well ... maybe I should make them both ;D
-
I hate brussel sprouts but my DH loves. Maybe I would like them cooked this way.
I could use my Tefal Actifry.
-
Give it a go, Katie, sweet, young BS's taste really yummy ... make sure you only get the small ones, though, not the big, tough ones.
-
I like Brussels sprouts but DH not a fan. Will try this using airfryer as I am sure he will enjoy the mustard flavour.
-
Tell him I said he must at least try a couple before he says he still doesn't like them MF.
-
Will do Judy ;D
-
Both DH & I aren't a fan of brussel sprouts but trying not to pass this dislike onto DD so will have to give this a go :)
-
When Jo was only little Kerry, she loved plain old boiled Brussels sprouts, the only child I knew at the time who would eat them. These are so much better.
-
Well Alayna doesn't like chocolate so she probably would love them.
-
Look good Judy. I have some frozen ones, will try them.
-
I forgot to say that we had these the other night and all loved them. I have bought some more to make them again. Thanks Judy.
-
Thanks Cookie, glad you liked them.
-
This sounds wonderful -I love Brussels sprouts. Don't have and Air Fryer (hmmm - perhaps I should add it to my wish list?) however assuming that I could just roast these in a normal oven.
-
Sure can Deniser, I put the link to the original recipe for those who don't have an airfryer.
-
Thanks for that Judydawn. Will try them later in the week.
-
Sorry Judy, Brussels are the devils vege in his garden and I'm sure he adds something to them to make them just that little bit more yukky, so I apologise but I'm not trying this recipe! :P
-
Some people will never be converted Nikkit but they must be good for you surely ;)
-
I am sure they are Judy, but I am not about to try them again to find out how good they are for me thanks.
I may have already mentioned this before (seeing as I just love :P brussels...)
I had an op that went a bit wrong (long story...making it real short!) about 10 years ago and lost a fair bit of my blood as quick as the docs were putting it back in, anyway, there was no guiding light or anyone calling to me, so I came back to the land of the living after some 23 units were pumped into me. Once I was out of ICU and back to eating etc I anticipated the meals times with some apprehension. I could never guess what was under that funny green lid covering the plate on the table, sometimes not even once I'd lifted it!
I did, however, recognise good old brussel sprouts! I sat there for a while looking at them trying to decide if I really did need to eat or if I should just put up with the nurse moaning about how I should be eating bla bla bla!
Judy - I decided that seeing as all my blood was new, surely that would make a difference to my taste buds and so I stabbed one of those suckers and ate it.
It. Was. Horrible. :o :o :o :o :o :o
Just how I remembered them as a kid.
Dreadful!
New blood did not make for new tastebuds!
So, I have come to the conclusion, that I do not have to eat them, doesn't matter how they are cooked, fried, battered, crumbed, baked, sautéed or fricasseed - Brussels are not on my "to eat" list!
-
I was looking at some brussel sprouts in the supermarket vege sectiontoday, trouble was it was a big packet and it would probably mean I'd have to eat them at least for 5 meals. So I just looked at them and thought I'd make a salad instead.

I found I couldn't stop eating them too Deniser.

-
LOL. At least you tried them Katie and DH gets to eat any leftovers
-
You are honest about it too.
We have had these a few times. A couple of weeks ago we saw the producers on Landline and found it very interesting. We've been eating lots of Brussels since.
