Hi everyone,
I live on the Central Coast, in NSW Australia.
I've always wanted to cook more, but have found it hard because of fulltime work commitments and a lack of talent.
My wife is not into cooking, but does it à contrecœur so we don't all starve.
Enter Thermomix. We received one just over a week ago. We have 2 lots of friends who love theirs and convinced us.
We have all been inspired to try it.
My 14yo son and I did the Chicken Cashew, which was quite good
(I'll post a review). He almost broke it with a Turkish Delight recipe he found (it switched itself off), which turned out pretty bad (he liked it - anyone know a good one?).
My 12yo daughter whipped up a yummy sorbet for dessert.
The pizza dough made some great pizzas (so long frozen ones), and the Stroganoff was delicious.
I'm hoping to do an eggs Benedict for breakfast tomorrow.
The recipe feedback in the forums is great - thank you.
I'm looking forward to more interacting in the future :D

Hi Tony, thanks for popping over to this section so that we can formally welcome you to the forum. I do hope your friends are members here as well ;)
It's amazing how many people who don't like cooking really end up loving it when they buy a Thermomix. Are you going to try and encourage your wife to use the machine too, you might find she is not so reluctant to cook once she has a go.
There is a Turkish Delight recipe (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=8027.0) on the forum but we all had failures with it. However, there was a posting at the end where one of our members seemed to get it right so maybe you'd like to read the 2 pages of postings on this one.
To search for anything on the forum you think you might like to try, do it from the home page if using the forum's own search engine or do what I do which is use google. For the Turkish delight recipe for example, just type in Turkish delight forumthermomix and it will come up. If nothing comes up you can do a wider search with Google by typing in Turkish delight Thermomix. There are so many blogs out there these days so just about any recipe you want is likely to have been made by someone with a Thermomix.
Thanks for joining us Tony, have fun with your cooking.

hi Tony and welcome.. :D

Welcome to the forum Tony :)

Hi, and thanks for the welcome.
Thank you Judy the better Turkish Delight recipe - I'll give it to the boy for another attempt.
I made Eggs Benedict for myself and the kids this morning, with 90% success (I reheated the sauce for 30secs in the micro, and it separated :'( - I'll post in the EDC section, although I note there is no section for poached egg (I preferred a 2.30m egg to keep center runnier).
Some tough to remove stains in the bottom of the bowl. Any tips to remove them (I take it steel wool is out?)
-
I use Helene's scrubbies (http://thermomix.superkitchenmachine.com/collections/all/products/super-scrubbies-bulk) to clean my TM bowl Tony - most of us have them. Most of the time I don't need to add anything else but if the stain is stubborn, a bit of gumption on the scrubbie works a treat.
Here's (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=14129.0) the reviews of the poached eggs from the new EDC.

There is a recipe on the forum (sorry I can't link it just now) for a red capsicum jam...... It's a great condiment and the added benefit I've found is that the tmx jug comes up sparkling clean!!! :)

This (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=5956.0) one GF?

That's the one, Judy!! You're a gem!! Thank you! My PC crashed just before Christmas and ive been waiting for a friend to get back from vacation to see if it can be rejuvenated. I know there's a method for linking with an iPad but I just couldn't remember how it was done....... This recipe is one of my favourites! :)

Thanks for those tips.
I got some of those Scrubbies off eBay to try them (2 for $9).

Welcome Tony! We love our TM's on this fab forum :D
My DS14 likes making simple food in the TM too. Chookie's Belgium Lemon Teacake is highly recommended. He made it for a party and our friends were super impressed with him :)
-
Hello and welcome Tony. Love the way your offspring use the TM too. Don't think there is any chance of starving now!! ;D
-
Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum Tony. Glad all the family is enjoying the TMX.

Thanks for all the welcomes.
Having a great time with this machine. Had a demo today, and I'll post a few recipe reviews.
I could give a few suggestions for future demos, if any consultant was interested.
I'll keep those little recipe reviews coming
