Title: Chocolate icecream from recipe community
Post by: deedub on January 13, 2014, 09:40:08 am
This was the first icecream I made in my new ICM: http://www.recipecommunity.com.au/recipes/chocolate-icecream/40539

I substituted about 2/3rds of the dark chocolate with milk to use up an opened packet and it was lovely, perfect for the kids. Would like to try it with all dark choc, I imagine it would be decadently rich!
I like recipes that use whole eggs - already have a surplus of egg whites in the freezer!

I've started collecting egg whites in the freezer too deedub - have you got a quick way of defrosting them that doesn't cook them? Can you just leave them on the bench to defrost all day?

I freeze mine in small ziplock bags CP then If I want to thaw them more quickly than in the fridge overnight, I put the bag in a plastic bowl and add tap water to it. After a while you can squish the packet to loosen it - it doesn't take too long to thaw this way.

That's exactly what I do Judy, although I put the water in the sink. They defrost quickly with a bit of squishing.  ;D

I used to freeze my egg whites, now I use them for omelettes or scrambled egg.

Will give this ice-cream a go as it uses whole egg.

Thx Deedub :)
