Title: Milling grain - weight question
Post by: ~Narelle~ on July 31, 2009, 12:21:01 am
Hi
I grabbed some grains to mill yesterday.  Just a quick question though.  If I am going to make bread and I need 250g of flour for eg, is that equiv to 250g of grain?  In my head it should, in theory the weight shouldn't change should it?
thanks
Narelle

no, though the volume can change a lot!

It's like the old question that you get asked when you are in primary school - which is lighter - a tonne of lead or a tonne of feathers?

Yeah they are the same - but the feathers have greater volume.

I guess some might escape out the top when you open the lid (or if you are like me, up your nose!!)
