Our Thermie has arrived!! Currently sitting in a box inside our house waiting for us to come home from work (thanks mam for waiting in for the delivery man!)
My husband and I are recently married and have used our wedding money to buy one. So excited to start using it.
Apparently we're one of the few people to own one in the North East of England so feeling a bit proud as punch.
My first test will be Saturday night when my sister is coming over for a meal. Cooked in honour of her 30th birthday.
She has requested chicken :-/
No idea where to start! I'm off to look at the recipe part of this forum now :)
Sorry for the long intro.

Welcome to the forum Tracy. Are the DW of Stewart who joined recently?
There are some very good recipes here on the forum for you to research.Honey Mustard Chicken (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=5129.0) is a favourite in our house and you can't go far to beat Baf's Varoma Chicken with variations (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=5526.0)
Just type in chicken in the search box on the home page and you will see many chicken recipes listed.

I am indeed :)
He is home now and eager to open it. Haha.
Thanks for the tips! I'll be sure to post about my first experience.

Sparky 606, welcome to the Forum. Have fun with your new TMX. If I can be bold to suggest that you make soup as a starter. Made beforehand and reheated on stove or in microwave. This is very easy in the TMX and will get you familiar with the functions. Also make a cold sweet beforehand , then you can concentrate on the Chicken dish.

Welcome Sparky606. Have a great time experimenting on the weekend. Hope Saturday goes to plan.

Hello Tracy, welcome to the forum. You are in for a lot of fun in coming weeks, months and years so we hope you share some of your experiences with us all. As a newbie, may I suggest that you read the recipe carefully - most mistakes are made because we get ahead of ourselves, throw in something that should be added just yet and although some recipes are forgiving, not all are. Just take it easy, follow the recipe and you'll be right. The honey mustard chicken is a lovely recipe as you will read with all the favourable comments on that thread. Am I right in thinking you will be working it all out for yourself and not have a TMX consultant show you the ropes?

Hi Tracy - and a very warm welcome! It may take a little getting used to, but once you get the hang of it you'll be flying!! ;D Do you have a consultant who can show you the ropes initially? If not, any hitches, just put them on here and you'll have your answer in no time at all. . . .All very exciting for you both - Congratulations and very best wishes to you both on your recent marriage - and forthe wisdom in choosing a very worthwhile investment!!
Looking forward to hearing more from you soon!! :)

How was your meal last night Tracy? Was your sister impressed :D :D :D
-
Thank you all for the welcome.
So, last night we (my DH and I) cooked cheesy garlic bread and chicken and chorizo risotto. Followed by lemon meringue pie.
The garlic bread was too thick but still lovely. Pie was a little soggy but star of the show was the risotto. Cooked to perfection!
Everyone loved it and we were very proud of the whole meal.
This morning however, tried to make scrambled egg. Failed. Miserably.
I'm making chicken with bread sauce and vegetables for dinner today.
Still very pleased with our decision to forego the honeymoon and buy a TM :)

Are you choosing recipes which have positive reviews Sparky?
-
I've been using the book it came with. Fast and easy cooking. I'm going to purchase a EDC book too.
I think I should use my cooking instinct a lot more. I thought there was too much liquid for the amount of eggs this morning but blindly followed the recipe :(
But, you live and learn as they say.

Welcome to the forum Tracy. I'm glad your dinner went well on Saturday evening and everyone was impressed.
I haven't been too happy with some of the recipes from the book that comes with the TM although I do know that they have updated it since I got mine. Do try some of the lovely well tried recipes on here or the English site as they seem to work out so much better.

Sparky, check this thread out - a list of one of our forum members, CP's favourite recipes (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=6470.0). You will find so many interesting and varied recipes there and we all agree with CP's choices.

Sparky go with your instinct. You can always add more of anything but it is often impossible to remove it. You seem to be having fun.
