Robyn I recently bought the Breville Smart Scoop and we are loving it, much better than having to have the bowl in the freezer and you can do as many batches in a row as you like. The only thing is it's quite big and heavy so ideally you need to have somewhere you can leave it.

Why don't you like your cuisinart, Obbie?

It takes up space in the freezer for the bowl thing.

I'm the same as wonder, very happy with my breville smart scoop. And the service from breville.

I must start using mine again. The kids loved the different variety of Icecream I made. Not much of a day here to think about Icecream though, it's been raining all day and very cold with several thunder storms rolling through.

I have a Cuisinart compressor model and am quite happy with it and it gets quite a bit of use.    I have been told that all the compressor type machines need to be left on a bench otherwise if you move them about  you have to wait some time to let the compressor fluids settle or something like that.

Sorry not sure what happened to my message, it was meant to say I'm making Nutella ice cream tonight for DS.  ;D

Hopeful cook I'm not much of an ice cream eater but the kids and DH like it and I rarely by it becasue they all eat different flavours. I have an area of bench space that's a little out of the way and the ice cream maker can sit there permanently. The combination of the TMX and a compressor ice cream maker really does make it very easy. I'm very glad I spent the extra and purchased the compressor model.

I have my Cuisinart in my laundry, no room in the kitchen and I can close the door on it when its churning.  I keep it covered when not in use.

I just made a batch of ice cream using my new KA attachment, and I'm glad I didn't give away my Cuisanart compressor. It froze alot quicker (in about 15 mins), but I think it would be more creamier churning for longer like the Cuisanarat (at least 40 mins). It was noisier, and a bit more fiddling around than what I'm used to. Has anyone else got this attachment?

CP, I used to have the attachment and ended up selling it on eBay and went back to using my old ice cream maker (before I purchased my current compressor model).

Like you say, so fiddly to use compared to the stand alone machine, was glad to get rid of it.  :)

That's such a shame CP. I looked at when I was contemplating buying the Breville but decided I would spend the extra so I didn't need to keep the bowl in the freezer, the reviews online where mostly good from memory.

We had people over on Sunday night for dinner and two of them have bowl type machines but had never heard that most ice cream bases are made with a custard base and said they hadn't been able to find many recipes. I said I would send them some of the recipes I use but when writing them up realised how much eaiser the custard base is to make with the TMX, not sure I could be bothered if I had to do it the old fashioned way. ;D

Wonder I made the ice cream the day before putting in the KA attachment to churn. Just my feedback on KA attachment vs Cuisinart machine  :)
