I made this yesterday with a few changes...
I did not have 1 kg of beetroot, (only about 750g) so I made up the rest with apples.
I only put in 55g sugar and it is sweet enough, glad I didn't put in the 100g.
Forgot the salt!
I put the beets in a pyrex bowl with a lid and baked them that way.
I did follow the recipe for the rest of the instructions.
We had some with steak, chips and eggs last night for tea and it was yummy.
I will make this again. :)

I love anything beetroot. I am sure the garden doesn't have a kilo left in so will buy some beetroot to boost what I have. Thanks for the hint re the sugar Nikkit.
-
Cookie - it could be sweeter, but I figure we don't need all the sugar in recipes, so I always cut it by half at least.
I did a taste test about half way through cooking it and liked it how it was, so didn't add in the rest, but each to their own - you may like it a bit sweeter.
-
Thanks. Like you I always reduce the sugar by about half, most of the time anyway. We had a dessert the other night and yuk, far too sweet.
-
I also reduced the sugar by half and halved the recipe. It was really yummy and went really well with the chicken sandwich filling from the same book.

Cleaned out my fridge today and found 2 jars of this poked up the back.
That was the good find, the other bits and pieces I found were pretty ordinary (not good at all :o )
Anyway, the relish is still good. And it has been in the fridge for about a month.
And I liked it with that sandwich filling too Ekusumo. Good flavours :)

Making half quantity of this at the moment. Cooked the beetroot out in the weber in foil this morning. It wasn't moving on speed soft so it currently on speed 2.5 for 30 minutes for half quantity.
Update - This is a really nice relish, I buy Beerenberg's balsamic beetroot relish and Alyce's is up there with that brand. I've just mixed equal quantities of relish and sour cream and it makes a tasty dip. This will be great on my corned beef sandwiches and in hamburgers too. I didn't reduce the sugar in mine.

mmmm yummy, good idea Judy.
And I still have a jar in the fridge and it is still good :)
-
I made this the other day and found that it didn't move on speed soft either, had to keep upping the speed but still ended up with some burnt patches on the bottom of my bowl - not too much of a problem as the relish is DELICIOUS! :D

Hi, I have a surplus of beetroot and wanted to make a relish with it.
Could you tell me what QF EO is and where I could find the recipe please?
Or if anyone has a yummy beetroot relish that is available on the forum I would be appreciated.
TIA
