I am wanting to do home cooked goodies for Christmas gifts this year. Where do you find is best to buy nice bottles and jars from?
-
What state/city are you in??
-
From Cairns Karen ;)
Perhaps you could check out the op shops up there INATD, not sure what shops Cairns has. Maybe some locals will help out with this query.
-
I bought some good ones from Big W. they were $24 for the twelve.

Here's (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=1883.0) one thread on Christmas hamper ideas.

No cheap as chips over here I'm afraid. :'( :'(

WA seems to miss out on a lot of stores that are in the eastern states. There must be some sort of cheap jack stores over there surely.
-
Best place for jars and all things packaging in Perth is Canning Vale

I agree GHM. We bought all our olive jars at Plasdene. I believe it may have shifted to Osborne Park now.
Judy we have The Reject Shop. I love Cheap as Chips though, we see it when we travel. Like Aldi we visit it too.

I have an unhealthy obsession with glass bottles and jars! I buy them whenever I see them at good value and put them away for home made presents. In WA where we have no Cheap as Chips ( :( )I've found Red Dot, RAVE discount and The Reject Shop are pretty good, you just have to look fairly often as you never know what they'll have of course! I bought a heap of those milk bottles that are super trendy right now with screw top lids, for $2 each. These were in Red Dot. I think I almost cleared out my local store!

This place might be worth a look:
They seem to sell smaller quantities of each product than some of the other places around.

Good site, Katie. Thanks for posting that.

I also love really nice jars . I have noticed that when I give gifts in nice jars, the jars are often returned to me. Unfortunately I have not found any that are as cheap as those posted here. I must be more conscientious.

Ha ha Gert, I remember the fish on a stick shopping centre. Can't remember the real name, but we all used to know what was meant when we said "at the fish on a stick"!
Jars, I bought some nice ones at the new discount store in The Vale near Ellenbrook the other day. Only $3 each and they are 1 litre jars, perfect for the cookies in a jar recipe.

Earlville Nikkit. I saw some small glass jars in Kmart cheap. They had colourful, tops.

Red Dot had sets of 4 x 250 ml jars for $4 - lids sealed fairly well probably not good for runny things but I bought a lot for Xmas hampers
