Hi!
I have had my thermo for about a month and although I thought I felt confident, I have made 3 terrible curries in it over the last few days. I was never a great cook and starting to feel a little disheartened! Has anyone else taken a while to get use to it? I have made amazing dips, sorbets and soups but I find the meat in the curries (chicken, steak, lamb) comes out terribly chewy :(
Do other people still use their stove top or has this replaced everything for you?

Sorry to hear you're curries have been chewy.What recipes did you use?
I use my TM a lot but still reply on other methods of cooking as well.

Welcome to the forum. Try some of our all in one meals and see how they go. There are also some lovely curry recipes under main meals. It is probably best to read through all the replies before you make it as people may have made changes.

Cabban, welcome to the forum. We need to know which recipes you've tried, are they from a TMX book or from this forum. It's hard to help until we know which recipes then we can try and work from there.

All from the TMX cookbook. The butter chicken and also the stroganoff although I think the case with that was that I used steak pieces...
I also made a veg curry but the veg was mush by the end as I was trying to make sure the carrot was cooked and not raw...

Ah yes, the EDC butter chicken and also the beef stroganoff don't have the best of reviews... Have you seen the recipe book review section here on the forum? Before I make anything from the EDC (or any other TMX book) I check the review pages for tweaks etc.
Have a go at the Butter Chicken from the Indian cookbook (is here on the forum, I'm sorry I can't link in on my phone) and also Chelsea's beef stroganoff, they get better reviews. Personally I prefer chicken thighs to breast as I find the breast can get dry, but others do better with it than me - personal preference :)
Good luck! Just try to read reviews before making your dish and you should be pd to a flying start :)

This Beef Stroganoff (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=13567.0) recipe by the wonderful cook and forum member Chelsea is supeb ;) I recommend that you search other Chelsea recipes on here which are very reliable.
This Butter Chicken (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=5295.0) recipe is from the F&E Indian Book and is delicious.I make it often. ;)

Hello and welcome. Yes I had a few teething problems at first too. Always check on here first. Saves a lot of time and grey hairs :D

Think we all have had a dissapointment or two when learning our machines, but don't think anyone would live without theirs now!! Think of it as learning to walk....bound to be a few trips and tumbles but sooner or later we 'get it!!' :D

Cabban welcome to the forum. We have all been in your place. If you had the time and energy you could spend days reading up on all our "disasters" but perhaps not.
Just realise these things happen when you try a new anything. All about learning and being confident about how certain food work in the Thermothingy. Takes a while.
You can always rely on Tenina's cookbook recipes to be spot on. Same with many people on this forum. We try and try until we get our own perfection as to what our family likes. Mushy meals are very popular at the start! If you have small children or dogs they are a Treat. Not so much of adults. Your almost puréed meals can be great toast toppers! Bonus I say.
